I always figured it was a shout-out to his fans, especially in the Dominican.
Isn’t that a major crime against nature?
I have read that it is a signal he makes to a family member – a mother or grandmother I think.

In most explanations the kisses seem to center around his mom, with his wife a close second. The heart tapping ranges from love to the fans to love to the world to love to his mom again. And, he even gives us a little Harry Caray shout out.
As for being both a Cardinals and Cubs fan, at least scientists now know the world doesn’t end when matter and anti-matter collide.
I am not alone in being fond of both teams. Any time the Cubs and Cards play each other, you’ll see visitor’s colors in the home season-ticket seats.
