It would have been more fun to put this in the Pit, but I need answers more than a good rant. I just installed Photoshop CS on my Mac, I’m trying to edit a simple JPG file, I tried to Save As, and the Save button is grayed out for no apparent reason. It’s just a plain JPG file, no layers, 8-bit color. It won’t save in any other format either. I’m sure it’s something really obvious, and I’m going to feel stupid when I figure it out, but right now, I have no clue.
I’ve been using Photoshop CS for months on Windows, and I’ve never had a problem like this. I don’t know if it’s the file, or if it’s something wrong with my Photoshop, or what. Can anyone help me, before I have a total meltdown?
Even though that worked, you still shouldn’t have to do all that. Are you sure you were actually in Photoshop when the jpeg was open? I mean, did you open the file **from within **Photoshop, as opposed to simply double-clicking on it?
I was definitely in Photoshop (the little Photoshop logo is a dead giveaway :)). I had to drag and drop to open it–I tried to open it in Photoshop, but it didn’t recognize it as a readable file. I should have known something was fishy. This was something I got scanned in at a camera shop, so who knows what they did to the file.
