what's wrong with my wrist?

i’m 17 and am arthritic from having lupus for about 10 years. it’s generally not that bad at all, but for the past year or so, my right wrist has been painful on and off. it usually lasts for a day or two and if i wear an ace bandage that sometimes helps. it feels like i’ve sprained it mildly… sharp pains when i bend it too far either way or from putting pressure on it, but it’s not swollen. it’s been going all week this week and i was wondering if anyone knows anything about this (i.e. what might be causing it, what i can do to fix it, etc.) that might help. thanks!

Do you spend an extended amount of time on the computer?
I had similar problems with both my wrists. I got myself one of those gel wrist pads that sit in front of your keyboard, and they’ve been fine ever since.

I have something similar, from weightlifting. Mine is either tendinitis or bursitis. You might google on these two and see if they sound similar to what’s ailing you.

If it is tendinitis, you might find it useful to wear an ace bandage at night. Not too tight, but enough to keep you from sleeping on it weird. I tend to bend my arms all funky in my sleep, and it makes my occasional wrist problems worse and harder to heal when they crop up.

I used to have problems with my wrists because of the repetitious nature of my work. But my doctor recommended taking Osteo Biflex and it has helped me out a lot! Maybe it can help you as well.

My sister is also arthritic, and when she initially complained about pains in her legs, the doctors thought it was tendonitis or bursitis, especially because she did a lot of school sports at the time. Over the next year and a half the diagnosis changed more times than I know, until a specialist finally identified it as a form of juvenlie arthritis. Are you sure that your wrist pain isnt from arthrisis - perhaps a new inflammation point? My sister’s has spread over the years, so it is a possibility.

I’d consider going to see a doctor if i were you, just to be sure.
