What's Your Bedtime (and related questions), a poll

What’s your bed time?

After work, gym, internet surfing/news reading, showering/teeth, 14:00-16:00 (but usually closer to 16:00); during the school year, depending on how late my classes run, could be as late as 17:00-19:00. Up by 23:30 to get ready for work.

What’s your bed time routine (if you have one)?
Shower, brush teeth, maybe another glass of wine if I lie down and really can’t sleep, say the Shema, masturbate, maybe read a little (generally, if I can’t sleep w/in a reasonable amount of time, say, w/in 15 minutes), then off to sleep.

In an ideal world, how many hours of sleep would you get a night?
Ten, plus (man, do I LOVE the weekends!).

In the real world, how many hours of sleep do you get a night?
Minimum of 4.5 (though I’ve had several nights when I’ve slept as little as 2-3); maximum of 8 (rare, except for weekends), but usually closer to 6.5 to 7 (well, closer to 6.5, really).

What’s your bed time? I work days but the man works nights, so I usually stay up to talk to/feed him after he gets home, so bedtime is around midnight. Later if we get busy.

What’s your bed time routine (if you have one)? Shower, lock up, cuddle.

In the real world, how many hours of sleep do you get a night? The alarm goes off at 4:30 so usually four and a half, often less. I’m always tired but on the bright side, my various aches and pains usually wake me up after about five hours anyway.

The new schedule I’m starting on:

In the real world, how many hours of sleep do you get a night?

either 4-6 or 9-11, either way oversleeping or way undersleeping
PS - Did I mention that the bedtime listed above is 7 AM? That’s what I get for deciding to go into a career in which you’re pretty much guaranteed to have to start on night shift.

9-10pm. The pm is important, I used to work 12-hour shifts and man, the weeks we went nights were murder. I’ve got an Internal Clock of Doom: sometimes it fails and I’m awake until later, but it’s rare; if I keep myself awake until 1am for a party or some such then I wake back up and don’t need to sleep again until the following night.

I’m using the same clothes as “around the house clothes” and as pajamas, which means I’ve usually been wearing them already. So I close the computer or book, go pee, drink a glass of water, make sure all lights are off, take off my bra and dive in.

8, no?

7-9, most usually 8. I wake up at 5-6. Most days I drop into bed and wake up 8 hours later; occasionally I’ll have to zombie out to the bathroom. My idea of “a bad night” is waking up twice, Dad was the same - Mom found it terribly irritating whenever he complained of a bad night, since she sleeps in Morse. Alarm clock, whazzat? OK; I did set the alarm once last month: I had to take a 6:30 flight, which means being in the airport by 5 or earlier, so I set the alarm at 4. And of course I woke up every hour on the hour due to fear of missing the flight yawn
Haze, when I was in college I felt terribly guilty because during exam periods my dormmates would stay up until 3 studying and I was just unable to do it. Then one day I worked out that, because I was going to bed at 11 and waking at 5, I was actually putting in more hours - most of them didn’t get out of bed until lunchtime (no classes during exam periods). Part of it is job demands, but part is that different people have different natural hours.
