Mac & cheese is right up there, along with baked potatoes.
Number one on my list would have to be cream of tomato soup and toasted cheese sandwiches.
Lost your barbie? I’ll fix some tomato soup.
Skinned your knee? You need some tomato soup.
Bad haircut? Here, have some tomato soup.
Hurricane? How about some tomato soup? (I’m serious.)
When I’m sick, I have to have Campbell’s Chicken Noodle soup and a peanut butter (Jif smooth) sandwich on toast, cut up into 4 triangles. I dip the sandwich in the soup, and it gets all melty. Mmmmmm.
Brownies…actually brownies batter, but the still warm brownies run a close second. Must have real milk [not skim or lowfat or any other nasty permutation] with them, too, otherwise they don’t count.
A piece of warm multigrain bread with butter [and possibly a slice of havarti cheese] on it.
my mother’s candied potatoes.
grilled cheese sandwich.
My friend and I used to get together, curl up on the couch, and eat peanut butter. I prefer all natural crunchy while she always liked smooth. We would sit for hours talking, eating, and just enjoy each other’s presence.
If one of us was going through a bad time the other would surely show up at the door with two jars of peanut butter.
Things could never be that bad if you had a good friend, a spoon, and some peanut butter. When we couldn’t be together we would often mail each other a jar of peanut butter.
Now, whenever I partake of the PB ritual I am always reminded of those days long ago.
My Comfort Food is Dark Beer, in many varieties, and lots of it! Cheers!
Mashed potatoes (preferably Potato Buds–Yum!) mixed with Corn Niblets. Add plenty of butter and salt…
Also, fixing up a chocolate shake with some crunchy toast. Dip the toast into the shake…all your troubles will melt away.
Sherbert, any flavor will do as most of them taste similar anyway.
Beans on toast, preferably with chocolate milk on the side.
chili mac
Take one can of chili, dump over spagetti noodles. My Mom used to make this as an emergency-type dinner. It is my ultimate comfort food. Next up- Ben & Jerrys Phish Food. It’s not easy, but I have to finish the whole pint.
:o
I guess I’m a little wierd but my comfort food is artichokes. Cook up 4 medium size artichokes and ten spend an hour dipping the petals in lemon butter sauce with my sister. the later in the evenig the better. mmmm-mmmm. Now I want some…
Malt-O-Meal, cooked by Mom, with milk, butter, a little suger and a dash of salt.
Ruusunivelli and riisipuuro, also cooked by Mom. Prune/raisin soup on rice pudding.
Cream of potato soup - lots of carrots, onions, salt, and a bit of celery. But no bacon or cheese.
Also hot German potato salad. The hot vinegar/sugar/herb dressing is soooo good and soothes the savage beast
Either of the above coupled with a big mug of peppermint tea or cranapple juice.
