Mine is anything with Cinnamon. The list topper is a cinnamon roll with frosting. Home made if I can get them, but that’s very rare so I take the storebought ones instead.
If it’s a really disgusting day out- like it is today, cold rainy and windy- I’ll take one and toast it until it’s steaming hot, then eat it slowly and enjoy the sugary cinnamony flavors in my mouth.
Chicken noodle soup, homemade bread and hot chocolate. If the aforementioned can be eaten while sitting with a quilt wrapped around you, so much the better.
I’m making one of my favorite comfort meals tonight. Meatloaf, mac & cheese, collard greens and cornbread. The bf’s been whining for a meatloaf (he likes mine) and meatloaf just ain’t good without the other stuff. MMMMMMMMMMM…can’t wait. [sub]the bf’s gonna be dessert…MMMMMMMMMM[/sub]
Cinnamon toast and gingerale because it reminds me of being pampered when sick - getting to stay home from school, being wrapped up in a big comferter on the couch, and having mom all to myself.
Everybody’s choices sound great - as for me, I have to go with pasta with pesto - typically those Buitoni (originally Contadina) ravioli or tortellini, and their pesto sauce - fast easy and oh, so good; followed by Entemann’s chocolate chocolate chip cookies. I am in heaven just thinking about them.
If I am cooking, then probably a breakfast - a fruit smoothie, a big bacon/cheddar/avocado omelette, sour dough toast with a ton of marmalade and some coffee - yes, kids, I will watch cartoons with you!
Akin to Lola-Tomato soup and grilled cheese sammiches, but the cheese MUST be the otherwise unpalatable Kraft processed cheese slices.
JIF peanut butter and grape jelly on FRESH white bread.
Fresh homemade bread with real butter/honey butter.
Still warm from the bakery chocolate covered raised donuts (preferrably from Golden Valley Bakery)
Gramma’s pieroghis with onions, fried in butter.
My lasagne. When the weather is cold and dreary, I like to make it-- a BIG OL’ pan of it. With green beans and breadsticks.
Reading over my list, it is no wonder I have a bread-ass like I do.
Campbell’s (Cambell’s? You know what I mean) Chicken Noodle soup with buttered Saltines. It’s what I used to eat when I stayed at my grandma and grandpa’s house back when I was really little.
I like easy things when I need comfort so breakfast food, cinnamon toast with an omelette or maybe tomato soup with grilled cheese.
If I’m the well one pampering family I make homemade chicken soup. There’s also a hamburger, rice and campbells soup deal I throw together that’s rather bland and both the boys find very comforting.
I am having hot chocolate right now, and that will do!
Also, Nutella on a toast!!!
PLease everybody try it! They sell it in most stores now, where peanut butter is. It is the best.
A gigantic kettle of chili. Preferably one that’s been simmering all day…lots of peppers…good any time of year, but particularly on cold rainy/snowy days.
