Your favorite comfort food?

Had a tasty baked mac and cheese for lunch- the kind with the crumbly top- and started thinking about the best comfort foods- the ones you turn to after stress, turmoil or severe hangover.

For me its Mac and Cheese, Peanut Butter Sandwhichs and big old subway roast beef subs with all the crap they got loaded on.

How about you?

I have to go with Chinese Food. There is nothing like Crab Rangoon and Egg Fu Young when you want to turn that frown upside down.

MMM…comfort food…

#1 I would have to put mashed potatoes here. No skin or lumps, and with butter and salt. NO gravy. I never really understood the whole gravy thing anyway. All it does is make it turn light brown and taste like gizzards.

#2 Biscuits and Gravy. Here is where the gravy is permissible. The biscuits have to be buttermilk (no Grands - Paul Bunyan-sized monstrosities), and there has to be sausage.

Comfort foods when I’m sick: Chicken Soup with Kreplach, French Toast, mac and cheese.
Comfort foods to lift my spirits: Crab Meat au Gratin, Veal Saltimbocca, Flourless Chocolate Cake (especially the stuff I had this Saturday - OMG, it should be called Chocolate Orgasm Cake), Kung Pao Chicken, Aurelio’s Pizza… too numerous to mention.

Ludo - gravy made with a real roux doesn’t taste like gizzards. I don’t like gizzards gravy, either. Good gravy on creamed mashed potatoes happens to be heaven.

My favorite comfort food, though, has to be crackers and milk in the biggest glass I can get a hold of. (My father’s a redneck).

Peanut butter and jelly is right up, too, along with grilled cheese sandwiches.

Potato Salad. Any kind, but mostly the good stuff my Step-Mom used to make.
[Homer] MMmmm… Potato salad [/Homer]

  1. Purchase Pepperidge Farms Milano cookies

  2. Purchase small bag of Hershey’s kisses.

  3. Put a Hershey’s kiss in your mouth, and take a bite of cookie.

  4. Chew

  5. Try not to be overwhelmed with ecstasy

  6. Fail

  7. Wash down with lots of milk

Denver sandwichs

Twix, Snickers, Mars, Dark chocolate cookies,- anything to stuff your mouth full of divine chocolate.:stuck_out_tongue:

When I seek comfort, I usually go with something sugary, preferably fried.

Donuts come to mind…

chocolate chip cookies
Mazzio’s CinnaRollies (Mmm…cinnarollies)

macaroni and cheese (non powder kind)
Potato chips with french onion dip
duncan hines dark chocolate cake(every day)

Kraft Dinner (with those fancy Dijon ketchups  )

Campbell’s Tomato or Cream of Chicken Soup with lots of saltines.

A big ole bowl of psghetti with butter.

Mashed Potatoes with garlic and horseradish

I have to agree with Homebrew. Add some fresh-shelled purple hull peas and maybe a little blackberry cobbler with ice cream for dessert and we’re talkin’ beyond comfort…this is nirvana.

Mom’s homemade pasta.

On the junkier side: Hot wings.

Scrambled eggs w/cheese & ketchup on toast. Yum.

Also, mashed potatoes—but only homemade, not the kind in a box!
