I’ve had “A Donde Van Los Muertos” by Kinky running through my head. It’s a catchy song.
A couple of mornings ago, I woke up with a song in my head from my daughter’s Fisher Price cookie sheet toy that sings, “Someone’s in the kitchen making cooookies, someone’s making cookies toda-a-a-ay!”
Her Leapfrog learning table is equally annoying and earwormy. Every time she hits a colored key, a woman sings, “Red” or “Blue”, etc. One morning, I was in the shower and I heard “Red” over and over and over in my head. It’s maddening!
A positive earworm here: Modest Mouse’s new song Florida. It rocks my socks. Johnny Marr plays on the track, and the backing vocals are from the lead singer of The Shins - who I need to check out, stat.
Someone mentioning “it’s the end of the world” in the hated foodtv thread has inexplicably left me with “Texarkana” as my earworm:
20,000 miles to an oasis,
20,000 years will I burn,
20,000 chances I’ve wasted,
Waiting for the moment to turn…
Which kinda makes sense, since I was listening to Eponymous on the way into work. But “Texarkana” isn’t on Eponymous. :dubious:
The last song that played on the radio as I drove in today: Fishbone’s Party at Ground Zero, so I have no complaints at all.
Borderline, by Madonna. I have no idea why. I’m not a particular Madonna fan, and I don’t own any Madonna albums. Most likely, I heard the word “Borderline” this morning or last night, and a bunch of synapses fired off in a bizarre way.
Wow! You’ve just described the perfect song. I knew about Johnny Marr, but I didn’t know about the Shins singer being involved. I’ve listened to The Shins’ new album almost every day since it came out, I love it so much.
I definitely have to hear the MM song now. Thanks for the heads up.
In semi-related news, according to Entertainment Weekly, Morrisey would “rather eat his own testicles” than reunite The Smiths. God, I love him.
On my way to class two nights ago I heard a new song on the radio: “Here (In Your Arms)” by Hellogoodbye. I liked it so much that I texted myself the artist/title when the DJ back-announced, and it’s been stuck in my head ever since. Last night I downloaded it from iTunes, and this morning I was walking around singing the chorus (“Well you are the one, the one that lies close to me…”) to myself.
I so have to look up that remix when I get home tonight! Dammit!
I hadn’t heard the term earworm before; you can bet I’ll be using it now, though.
I’ve had Cat Steven’s Tea for the Tillerman running off and on for the last couple of weeks. I am dying for more episodes of Extras and it’s killing me.
I’ve had this damned thing in my head for days now. I was humming it on the golf course, singing in the shower… Can’t shake it.
*If you see me walking by
And the tears are in my eye
Look away, baby, look away
If you see me on the street some day
And you don’t know what to say
Look away, baby, look away
Don’t look at me, I don’t want you to see me this waaaaaaayyy!*
Thanks to Zsofia, I now hear Cyndi Lauper’s version of Dionne Warwick’s:
*If you see me walking down the street
And I start to cry each time we meet
Walk on by, walk on by *
Dashboard as my current earworm.
The song that finally left my mind after at least 2 months of non-stop repeating in my
head was Anna Molly by Incubus. I think what really made it stick was that I had three different versions of the title line: “Anna Molly”, which sounds like he’s saying “anomaly”, which I then replaced with “animal-y”.
Before that it was Run by Snow Patrol.
“Coin Operated Boy” by The Dresden Dolls.
It will NOT go away. I’ve even tried the Spiderman Theme Song, to no avail.
That’s okay though, it could have been “It’s a world of laughter, a world of cheer…”
Until Miss Take mentioned Coin Operated Boy (I thank you for that!), it was Our House. But not the original Madness version…the crappy jinglefied version from the Maxwell House commercial.
Tribute, by Tenacious D. For like two days now, ever since I looked at this thread. Aargh!
This is not, the greatest song in the wor-horld…
The theme song to Sanford and Son. It’s been 25 or 30 years since I’ve seen an episode, but the song has stuck with me.
Doo doo DOO doo
Doo doo DOO doo doo doo doo
Ferry Corsten’s Beautiful
Jann Arden’s cover of “You’re So Vain”.
You know what, Love Rhombus? (Great nick btw.) I was reminded of song after song that will stick in my head. And none of them stuck. I didn’t let them. Then you did this.
You’re utterly wrong. You’re bad. And I will never never forgive you.
<singing> Sunday/Monday Happy Days!
See? I’m not saying what I would do? But no jury would convict me.
“Before the Next Teardrops Fall” by Freddie Fender.
It’s been a recurrent earworm going on several months now.
