What's your current earworm?

Today at work we discussed a guy who had lived on Christmas Island and may have had radiation exposure. Since then my brain keeps asking me how I’d like to spend Christmas on Christmas Island.

I didn’t even know I knew that song.

I noticed this morning that my previous earworm was replaced recently by:

Kaiser Chiefs - Never Miss a Beat

Speaking of earworms, I always have one. Is this true for everyone? Of course, I’m someone who automatically sings or whistles any song that I like. I think this is why songs get stuck in my head.

Shriekback’s Cradle Song got into my head at some point last night. Not sure why, haven’t listened to that album for awhile.

One of my favorite albums ever. No exaggeration. I bought it sound-unheard when it came out back in '85 or so based on the fervent recommendation of a record store clerk I’d never met, and have loved it ever since.

I’m listening to it right now, thanks to your mention, so maybe it will replace my current earworm, which is Miles Davis & The Cool by the Gaslight Anthem. I like the song a lot, but it needs to move out of my head for a bit.

Rock me mama like a Wagon Wheel - Old Crow Medicine Show

Yeah, I always have a song running. Always.

Right now, it’s “Dreaming my Dreams with you” - Alison Krauss

This morning it was “Windmills” - Toad the Wet Sprocket (one of the live versions with Nickel Creek playing fiddle and singing harmony).

Chalk up another Marillion fan. Misplaced Childhood has long been a favorite of mine, and the verse quoted above is one of the highlights of a great album. If you’ve got “Bitter Suite” in your head, you’re ahead of the game.

I think your subconscious might be trying to tell you that you’ve done something … well, bad.

Mine is a re-occurance of a song I thought I had gotten rid of. Day Man, Fighter of the Night Man.

I don’t even know which song it is, but I have some riffs running 'round my head from the Led Zeppelin bootleg “Live on Blueberry Hill”.

Jimmy hits a couple of chords and they sort of echo back, and then he hits them again, and again, and he speeds up, and then Jones and Bonzo join in, and the whole band takes off…

Unfortunately, the only version I have is on vinyl, and my turntable isn’t working…
eta: there’s a version on How the West Was Won: “Dazed and Confused”
