What's your desktop background?

at the moment, I have a picture of a forest fire which I found in the picture section of snopes.com.
Usually, I get something from www.cognitivedistortion.com. I love the fractals.

An aerial photo of a deciduous forest in autumn, from NationalGeographic.com (which has hundreds of such wallpaper photos).

A supernova as seen from an alien world.

I use Webshots and love it. I change my background everyday with a new photo. I am partial to nature scenes but there are so many to choose from. The service is free or you can upgrade to the premium for a fee. I have been using this for at least 4 or more years.

Here is some info from the site:
Webshots allows you to decorate your desktop with beautiful photos - for FREE! You can add gorgeous new photos (like nature scenes, animals and tropical islands) to your desktop every day.

If you have digital personal photos, you can also upload them to your free homepage in the Webshots Community and order film-quality prints and photo gifts.

I’m using my boyfriend’s computer. I live with him, and we’re too lazy to hook mine up. He has two computers so I use whichever is closer/whichever he is not using.

One day last week I went out, came home, sat down and opened up the laptop to see this. Aww.

The desktop on his other computer is a drawing of me and him done by one of my friends online.

Again, aww.

I’ve got a promo picture for season 2 of the Venture Brothers, found at Jackson Publick’s Livejournal.

I use Webshots, too. I currently have 280 different photos, mostly of nature scenes, that it uses for wallpaper and screensaver. My wallpaper changes every hour, so I never get bored. At the moment it’s this one.

A picture of the late, great Virginia Mayo

I think mine is super.

I generally use something from the Astronomy Picture of the Day site. The archive has tons of photos, many of them quite beautiful. At the moment I have a picture of the Fox Fur Nebula.

At home it’s a picture of my son and daughter leaning in to kiss my youngest (6 month old) daughter on either side of the melon.

At work, it’s a “golf course” that a couple of my old student workers designed using Microsoft Paint. It is complete with a coke machine, a penguin with monacle, two three-eyed fish, and so on. Fantastic!

Large one, but worth it:

A pic I shot from the roof of my 7-story apt bldg, depicting a new platform being installed at the train station next door on the Hudson River waterfront.

I used to have a ultra-sound picture of my baby that is currently growing inside my wife’s belly.

I then had this from the POVRAY hall of fame.

Now I have an Escher style fuck-with-your-mind optical illusion painting.

This is mine.
