What's your dream car?

I want an Edsel made out of cheese.

A Ferrari 250 GTO (1962), a Ferrari 512 BB (1973-1981, just the carburetor version), or a Lamborghini Miura. Oh, and a Lotus Elise. And a Morgan Plus 8 P.I. And a Land Rover Defender. And a Peugeot 205 GTI Griffe for everyday use. And maybe an Aston Martin Vantage on the side.

Somebody stop me.

a 1973 Type-E Series 3 Roadster convertable, Jaguar painted forest green, whooo mama. Once I get that car my life exspectancy will drop to 3 years.

M-B C-111 Gull wing coupe. Test bed car for twin and triple
rotor Wankel engines. They later put in a Turbo-Diesel and set quite a lot of records.

As for a day-to-day car. A fully restored 1981 Honda Civic station wagon. I owned one once. Loved that car.

'57 Chevy Nomad Bel Aire (sp?). It has the spaciousness and the sexy good looks. Will accept any suggestions from the real motorheads regarding peformance/aesthetic upgrades.

I alsp want a 91’ Civic CRX. I just love that rearn window design.

TVR Cerbera 4.5

I have a couple right now…

Ferrari 360 Modena
'02 Subaru Impreza WRX
'02 BMW M3
'86 Jaguar XJS V12
[sub]mmmmmmm…[/sub]

My dream car.

Of course, I want the Volante.

If only I had $150,000 to throw around, eh?

whatever’s in the sights of a rocket launcher.

87’ Yugo?

Black Ford Falcon
My dad had one in the sixties.
Loved it, soo comfortable.
I still see them once in a while.

A Subaru Impreza WRX for my commuting car. I just love the thought of pushing the envelope on the twisty backroads with an AWD turbo.

For those special occassions though – I gotta side with Coldie and go for a Lotus Elise.

A '67 Mustang - Midnight Blue. Yeahhhhh…

Maybe a Porsche 911 Whale Tail. Midnight Blue.
Of course, if it were truly a dream car, it would be a car…any car…where I could open both doors (no pansy four door sedans, thanks), and then rotate them so they would be horizontal.

I’d stomp on the gas, get a good start…

and become airborne. Screw you, traffic.

[sub]yeah yeah, no comments on getting sucked out of the car, it’s a fantasy, ok?[/sub]

Well, I already own one of my dream cars. . .

A 1966 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special Brougham sedan. Black on black with a red damask and leather interior, tray tables and footrests in the rear compartment, and slabs of gen-you-wine walnut capping the door panels. I’ve wanted one forever and finally got one last year.

When I hit the lottery, the first occupants of the 25,000 square foot garage I’ll build will be:

1955 Packard Carribean convertible (white, pink, and black)
1947 Packard Custom Super Clipper
Tucker '48
1950 Studebaker Land Cruiser 4-door (suicide doors and a bullet nose, how can you go wrong?)
1961 Lincoln Continental Convertible and Sedan (I have a thing for suicide doors)
1956-57 Continental Mark II
1957-58 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham
1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz
1958 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special
1941 Cadillac Sixty Special
1959 Ford Fairlane Skyliner
One of each model of the 1958 Edsel line
1963 Studebaker Avanti
1966 Pontiac Bonneville four-door hardtop sedan (bottle green w/ bottle green Morrokide)
1959 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight
1959 Pontiac Bonneville Vista Dome hardtop sedan
1956 Chrysler 300B
1965 Chrysler 300L Coupe and Convertible
1976-83 Chrysler Cordoba (one from each model year)
1982 Imperial Frank Sinatra Edition

OK, I have to stop now. But that ain’t all of 'em. Can you tell this is a favorite daydream of mine? :o

Mine would have to be a convertible from the 1920’s similar to the type that appeared in some of the Laurel and Hardy movies. I would love to get one and get it into running condition and occasionally take it out for a drive.

As for other modern cars, they all look the same to me, but the ones back then had “personality”.

I prefer the Series I, myself, I think all the little changes over the years kinda broke up the perfect lines of the original.

And it’s not forest green, it’s British Racing Green (you’ll sometimes see it in classic car adds as BRG). The Bentleys that won at Le Mans in the 30s, and the Jaguars in the 50s were British Racing Green. Before sponsor colors took over in the late-60s, cars in international racing were painted different colors based on which country they were from, and the popularity of those colors carried over to production sports cars. There are still occasional references to that era, and to this day a Ferrari just doesn’t look right unless it’s red.

I’ve always had a thing for 60’s Fords for some reason, or at least things powered by Ford engines. So…

A 289 and a 427 Cobra, plus one of the Daytona models.
One each of each version of the GT-40.
A Sunbeam Tiger, something toward the end of the run.
A Pantera, no particular year, just with the 351 Cleveland.
'67 Fairlane GT.
An original Thunderbolt (special Fairlane 500 with a 427 stuffed into it).
One of each year and model of Shelby Mustangs - in particular one of the original '66 convertibles (I believe only six were ever made).
One of each year and model of Boss Mustangs.
'32 Ford in original condition (a Deuce Coupe!)

And my daily driver: a '65 Mustang, fastback, factory GT with the K-code engine, styled steel wheels, pony interior, bright red with a white interior.

And that’s just the Ford wing of the garage!

Venkman, I salute your taste in fine automobiles. My earlier post notwithstanding I’ve been a Fordist for years.

Can I come over some Saturday and take some of these out for a spin? I’ll bring an E-code Thunderbird or perhaps one of the several Mexican Road Race Lincolns slumbering in my dream garage. . .

Yer pal,

Zappo

The best part? Most of mine are fairly common and cheap (*–not common/cheap)
(All engines are V8s, all engine sizes are cubic inches unless otherwise noted)

1956 Ford Fairlane, with 312 Thunderbird Interceptor (stock), or, if that’s not available, 428 Cobra Jet/Interceptor from a '60s-early '70s cop car

1965 Ford Galaxie 500 with 390 (or bigger :))

1950-54 Ford Customline

1967-68 Truck, 5/4 ton, Kaiser/Jeep M715

1988-93 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 liter, convertible or Police Interceptor coupe (not the goofy-lookin’ winged hatchback)

1969 Ford Torino Talladega with race-prepped 429*

1967 Shelby GT500 (not KR) with 427*

1970 Plymouth SuperBird 426 Hemi*

If anybody knows where I can get any of the first 5, email me!
