I hadn’t noticed until you asked, but it seems to be “Lady Writer” by Dire Straits. Don’t ask me why. I do not think I have actually heard the song for years and years.
“Glycerine,” by Bush.
Sarah Jackman, Sarah Jackman,
How’s by you? How’s by you?
How’s your brother Bernie?
He’s a big attorney.
He’s nice, too. He’s nice, too.
I’ll swap anybody here. Really.
The night they drove old Dixie down
all the bells were ringin’
The night they drove old Dixie down
all the people were singin’
they went “na, na, na”
Rinse, wash, repeat…
The Avett Brothers’ “Kick Drum Heart.”
Well, “Blinded by the Light” now, since I scrolled past the thread title a minute ago.
Don’t Think by No Doubt.
Land Down Under by Men at Work. For freaking days now!

“Heartbreak World” by Matt Nathanson.
A Hungarian soccer chant. My grandpa had it on a mixtape. It’s got one of those annoying hooks. “Ria, Ria, Hun-ga-ria!”
This instant I don’t really have one, but…
I’ve spent pretty much the entire summer as a super in the Cincinnati Opera’s productions of Die Meistersinger, Otello, and La Boheme. At various points, I’ve had little melodies from the first two rolling around my head all night–Beckmesser’s serenade in the second act of DM, as well as the whole madness of the riot that follows, and the opening (Una vela! Una vela!) of Otello. At one point I decided I needed to listen to Die Zauberflote for some reason, and wound up with “Vogelfanger ich bin ja” banging around my head all night. (We’re rehearsing Boheme now, but for some reason it’s not sticking with me the same way.)
So, yeah. At any given moment, lately, it’s going to be opera.
I’ve got “Caravan” and “The Pass” by Rush stuck in my head on heavy rotation right now.
I had to dissect The Beach Boy’s “Pet Sounds” album for my music appreciation class and I’ve had “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” stuck in my head for days.
I have recently found a love for the Beach Boys.
