I have Joan Jett’s I hate myself for loving you stuck in my head.
Worse, I had a roommate in college who would mangle the words on purpose and many of his words are part of the earworm. (I hate myself for sniffing glue being one of the least annoying.)
I have two theme songs going pestering my ear: Hawaii Five-O theme, and the Theme from The Magnificent Seven.
Both understandable:
Watched the new Hawaii Five-O for the first time Sunday night, after the football game and watched an old repeat of Cheers last night and the gang was humming the theme from the Magnificent Seven.
BTW, When typing Hawaii Five-O is with an “O” or a “0”. I chose “O” because that is how it is said, but I know the “Five-Oh” is supposed to be a play on 50. As in State #50.
I know I’m way late as far as when this song first came out, but I did hear it for the first time on that commercial which has led me to listen to some other Pogues material.
Funny, but when I first heard it, I thought it was **The Proclaimers **or The Hooters!
Because my son mentioned* it yesterday, I’ve got Billy Stewart’s version of Summertime scatting through my head. P.S., I didn’t know Billy was so, um, rotund.
*He actually asked me, “What’s that Summertime with the brrraaappps all up in it?”
Nearer my God to Thee (instrumental string quartet version) because I watched Titanic last night. It was rifftraxxed Titanic though. I can’t stand the hokey parts of that movie without the MST3K voiceover. But I still cry when I see the mom reading her kids to sleep.
