What's your favorite Easter candy?

I have to laugh at this, 'cause I felt the same way. I mean chocolate is nature’s most perfect food, how could ANYONE POSSIBLY make it taste bad

When I was a kid, the best Easter candy, bar none, was Peeps. When they arrived, they were a breath of fresh air – a respite from endless chocolate bunnies. They were hand formed, not molded, they just coincidentally looked like little chicks, with their little chocolate dot eyes. And just sweet enough. And they only arrived for Easter, not like today, when you find red and green Christmas peeps, or bunny shaped molded Peeps – that’s cheating on some of the fun.

I was pretty grown up when the Cadbury cream egg arrived, and, at the risk of provoking shouts of “Heresy!”, I didn’t like them – first off, I was grown, and didn’t want to eat a solid mass of sugar. I was actually put off by the appearance – wait, I want to crack open a chocolate shell, and eat a runny white and yolk? Yes, I know it was sugar and not actual raw egg contents, but the appearance was skievy. When I tried one, it was way too sweet and the sugar filling was grainy and granular. You kids today don’t remember what they were like – they cut back on the sweetness and improved the texture (and made the egg smaller) after a few years. So I can eat one now, with milk.

They make Cadbury Orange Creme Eggs?!

::rapid footsteps::

::door slams::

::engine starts, tires screech::

::faint moan of squished children, puppy::

Peeps, after they’ve been opened and left in the cupboard for a month.

Random question- Do the Cadbury Creme eggs taste any different overseas? I remember hearing that the ones here were bought out by Kraft, I think. They don’t taste like anything special, just the typical low-grade chocolate, equivalent to Hershey’s. I feel like I’m missing out on something when people talk about how good Cadbury’s is!

I like any candy that goes on sale the day after Easter. :smiley: I especially like Starburst or Smucker’s jelly beans and Butterfinger easter eggs.

While many of the others sound good, I still can’t take chocolate, so the jelly beans win. Starbursts and caramel peanut stuff would work better, but I don’t think those are considered Easter candy.

It’s chocolate + fondant + food coloring (for the yolk). I don’t think there’s anything special about them. The chocolate is definitely not any better than Hershey’s, and the fondant is just as overly rich as any other kind.

Jelly beans.

But the confection peanut butter is mixed with sugar, or even high fructose corn syrup … definitely a no-no! I would actually prefer to have unfucked with straight peanut butter like I get from my co-op nut butter grinder in a ‘peanut butter cup’ format. I suppose I could make them, but that takes the fun out of buying your candy =)

That is my husbands favorite candy - whatever goes on sale after the holiday. He will be in heaven tomorrow =)

I’m odd…I like white chocolate covered pretzles with pastel sprinkles the best. A close second is one I just discovered this year by accident- Forrelli Easter Fruit chews. They are (kinda) egg shaped, chewy fruit center with a harder shell…OMG they are soooooooooo good!

Cadbury’s Chocolate Buttons easter egg. It’s a very simple formula - thin milk chocolate egg with thing milk chocolate buttons - but it works, and they’re usually in those 3 for a quid offers, so can sometimes work out cheaper than just buying a chocolate bar.

Another stale Peeps fanatic. Those things are ambrosia

Checked out the after-Easter candy on sale today and scored some chocolate, and a Palmer’s Buttercream Egg (10 cents). Went out to the car and decided to eat the PBE on the way home. I was halfway home, turned around, went back to the store, and bought every Buttercream Egg left on the shelf. Yes, yes, they were THAT good.

I consider this Easter candy as it’s a real fruit jelly bean you can fill my Easter basket with any day. Gimbals Cherry Lovers Heart Shaped Cherry Jelly Beans.

I see something else that is neat. Scottie Dogs All Natural Licorice

Peeps won’t go stale here in south Georgia. Sucks.
