I’m not a midnight snacker, either, as some have mentioned. I wake up and can’t get back to sleep every now and then, but never have the cravings for food. Water sometimes, but not food. If I had to pick something, it would probably be crackers. Or crackers with cheese-- even better.
As a night owl, does it count as a “midnight snack” if I’m still awake and watching TV?
You’ve never met my cat. I get up to go the bathroom in the middle of the night, there she is. I don’t have the heart to turn her down. (She’s also been known to try and WAKE me up on occassion)
I thought I was the only one who did this.
Although I usually stick with a glass of milk if I get up in the middle of the night. Ice cold milk just hits the spot, you know?
Unflavored yogurt. I have some with a little Fiber One cereal stirred in at bedtime, and hope & pray I won’t wake up in the middle of the night too hungry to go back to sleep, but sometimes it happens anyway. Then I just have the yogurt plain (straight out of the container, because I’m the only one who eats it), swish with Listerine, and go right back to sleep.
Peanut butter, cheese, salami, any of those. And if it happens to be a day where there’s leftover pizza in the fridge (maybe once every two months), it’s nigh impossible I get through the night without waking for a midnight snack.
A banana is good in the middle of the night. Maybe a banana with peanut butter. I am a poor sleeper so it don’t take much to get me down the stairs. Food is as good a reason as anything else.
ETA nutella on a spoon.
Alternatively, a bag of Flaming Hot Cheetos, with a milk chaser to neutralize whatever the flaming hot substance is.
I do this sometimes. I’ve considered starting a thread about it, because whenever I’m eating peanut butter with a spoon I feel a sense of community with all the other people standing in their kitchens eating peanut butter with a spoon. I know you’re out there.
