6 7/8. I have the smallest head of anyone I know. It’s so hard to find hats that fit. So I usually just buy adjustable ones.
7 3/4. Are hat sizes one of the few things that are constant between the US and the UK?
Another big-dome. 7-3/4.
7 3/8. Most womens hats off the peg are too small.
- 8 1/16, actually, but 8 usually fits well enough. Just this past weekend I bought a new baseball cap, and it’s a loose 8, probably really about an 8 1/16, so it fits great. It’s my new cap of preference, a light grey Charlotte Knights batting practice cap.
Once again, I had to send someone from the gift shop down to the equipment room to find one big enough. Smart girl brought back a few. I fully expect to see them all still sitting there when I go back.
7 3/8
Almost every military person you meet will know this without having to look inside their hat.
Betwen 8 and 8-1/4.
I never even look for hats. Nothing ever seems to go above a size 8 (if your’re lucky enough to find that) and size 8’s rarely fit me.
Hey, fellow Big-Domers, any tips on where to find hats?
Looks like I’m taking fourth place in this contest. I’m a 7-5/8 long. It’s kind of a pain since I rarely find hats I like in my size, but then since I’m a 17th-century re-enactore I rarely find hats I like.
Something under 7–I can almost never find hats to fit me.
7 7/8 when I can find it. I usually make do with 7 3/4.
Another 7 7/8 guy checking in. Even the local HatWorld at the mall…a store that carries nothing but baseball caps does not carry that size (although they said that their web site does).
I spent an hour on Sunday looking for a hat that would fit me. I went to 3 sporting goods stores. No luck.
I AM NOT SOME HUGE HEADED FREAK DAMMIT!!!
On a related note…my wife was glad, during childbirth, that our daughter did NOT, apparently, inherit that trait.
7 7/8 too…you’d think they’d make more hats our size if there are so damn many of us…
I haven’t found a baseball cap that fits me in a few years. They’re all too damn small now. Didn’t used to be that way - I have a dozen ballcaps from when I was a kid that I can still fit on my noggin just fine.
7 3/8. I can wear a 7 1/4, but it fits a little snugly. A 7 1/2 just drowns my head.
Wow! What a big-headed bunch we are! Must be because we’re so smart.
Size 8 baseball caps can be had in most styles directly from New Era. The best luck I’ve had is to go straight to the ball park, though. As I mentioned in my post, if the gift shop doesn’t have the size you need, they can usually send someone down to the equipment room to find it.
Looks like I’m “ahead” of everyone else at 8 1/2.
I’ve had good luck buying online at: http://bighatstore.com/
and http://www.bigheadcaps.com/
And to find out your size: http://bighatstore.com/Size.html
** XXL **
A female coworker overhead my male boss and I discussing this topic earlier today. She piped in with what will be one of the best one-liners I hear this year:
“I’m really not comfortable hearing guys discuss their measurements like this.”
chuckles at KneadToKnow’s comment
Me: 7 3/4 -ish, but it depends a bit on the style of hat and how it’s supposed to be worn. (Berets vs. a Stetson, for example.)
<< Do-be-do-be-do… >>
I’m larger than the average woman in almost everything. I’m 5’ 11" and wear a size 11W shoe, and I have to do serious research to find a bathing suit large enough to fit my upper half. My head, however, is smaller than average.
I therefore refuse to believe that head size and mental capacity are linked.
Mr. Legend has a freakishly large head. Our daughters DID inherit the trait.
