What's your midnight snack?

Chips and salsa. Nuts… almonds, possibly pistachios. The other night key lime pie. At that hour it could be anything!

Sliced cheddar cheese on saltine crackers. Or peanut butter on graham crackers

Then I’m thirsty and a cold Budweiser hits the spot.

Ovaltine.

Cheese quesadilla. Extra sharp cheddar. Fresh flour tortillas. Hot, melty. Mmmmmmm.

Chips and Salsa.

Fruit if I have it. A banana, an apple, or an icy cold can of pineapple chunks or mandarin oranges from the fridge.

If I don’t have fruit then a PB&J.

A dollop of plain yogurt, with a teaspoon of Jello powder stirred in, usually lime.

My definition of “midnight snack” is something you eat when you wake up in the middle of the night. For me, it’s usually a glass of ice cold milk. It’s filling, it’s refreshing, and it helps me sleep.

(If I’m still awake, it’s whatever I feel like nomming on.)

Whatever’s around that isn’t too hard to make and I don’t find repulsive.

Leftover pizza is one of my favourites.

A bowl of peanut butter Cheerios with almond or cashew milk. I have to have something to take my medicine and vitamin D with, and that is always it. I love peanut butter Cheerios so much. I start counting down after dinner the time left until 10:00 when I can have it.

Olives. Good deli meats. Little bit of cheese. I often wrap cheese and olive in the meat, but late at night I usually just have a piece of each and a few olives before heading upstairs.

It works for me…

I second this. In my case, Trader Joe’s all-natural PB, creamy unsalted, only I use a table knife. Easier to lick all the PB off.

Often a Pillsbury Pizza Pop. And yes, I know how unhealthy they are. If it’s not that, it’s often a cheese sandwich.

And I define “midnight snack” as what I eat before bed, usually some time before midnight. I can’t stand going to bed hungry.

Pretzels and milk, or tonic water.
