I am very picky about my music, so I could fill up three pages of hated bands. But the leaders of the pack are Linkin Park, Rush, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, and any R+B.
Thank you. Have a nice day.

That’s easy. Def Leppard. Processed sound thru and thru. Terribly cliched lyrics and completely unoriginal licks. It’s hard to imagine a worst “band” in the history of Rock and Roll. Makes me want to gag. EVERY time their songs come on the radio I rush to the dial to switch stations and say…
“Not on my watch”.
Boy, you are picky!
Don’t know about Linkin Park, but I like the other three.
Lessee…most despised…
Jeez, this is hard…
I guess Air Supply, but my heart’s just not in it…
I know, everyone says Backstreet Boys, N’Sync, etc., etc., but I just can’t work up venom for these acts. They’re just pablum. Just sort of…there. Can’t work up hate.
If you hadn’t already guessed, I’m not exactly picky about my music. However, I’m trying to answer the OP in the spirit of “What band makes me break my finger trying to change the radio station?”, not “What band(s) do I not want to listen to voluntarily?” It’s hard.
Whoa, deja vu.
Steely Dan.
Bad, bad, bad self-absorbed sappy pseudo-jazz. Yuk.
Rod Stewart and Sting. Yeah, they make me so angry, I mentioned them in both threads.
Finally someone agrees! Pearl Jam drives me crazy. I used to like Gorillaz till my brother played them non-stop for 6weeks, now when I hear them I want to vomit.
Here’s my post from the closed version of this thread to which mighty maxx is responding:
Aside from the teeny-bopper bands like N’Synch and Hanson…
Hootie and the Blowfish. Hate them hate them hate them.
Pearl Jam. Eddie Vedder’s warbling bugs the living hell out of me.
I’ll probably think of more later.
Simply put, Dave Matthews Band.
And, since they emulate DMB so much, The Rustic Overtones (a down Maine band) is nearly as bad. It simply isn’t fair that Jeremiah Freed is opening for as shitty a band as Rustic- I hope they don’t continue doing shows together.
I was gonna start a “What band makes me break my finger trying to change the radio station?”, (thanks LindyHopper for putting it into such good words) so …
Tom Petty - with or without the Heartbreakers … more like ear breakers, atonal, whiney drivel
Aerosmith
There are more, but these will do for now.
Phish.
Well, isn’t this a kick in the pants …
Just quickly perusing this thread, I’d say I am an active fan of the following mentioned bands: Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Steely Dan, Rod Stewart, Sting (well, Police), Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews, Tom Petty, Aerosmith and Phish.
So I may as well paint myself right into a corner …
Like LindyHopper, I don’t have it in me to work up hate for the teeny-bopper “bands”, but bands/musicians who gave me such joy in their early careers only to sink into either total pretetiousness, or out and out suckiocity are fair targets for my wrath.
So I give you Rush, Elton John, The Rolling Stones to name but a few … and truth be told, Aerosmith is flirting dangerously close to the abyss.
Pretentious, atonal, overeducated, suburban white kid protest rock from the 90’s. Just stop. You haven’t been relevant for about eight years now, so quit it. Have the grace to bow out before you become even more of a self-parody.
Limp Bizkit.
I utterly loathe that noise-making, whiny, no-talent excuse for a musical group.
Oh, and I’ve never been able to genuinely like the Grateful Dead, and I don’t see what’s so great about Radiohead even though I like some of their songs.
Led Freakin’ Zepplin. Someone had to say it. Not a good note and the most overrated musical travesty ever. The combination of Plant’s yowling and Page’s hideously slinky guitar work send my finger flying to change the station.
Now, to me, these are two separate issues: There are bands I despise, and there are bands who make me jam my finger in my hurry to change the station.
Despised band: Oasis. I like their music, but I hate their goddamn personalities. I’d gladly sing along to Champagne Supernova, but if I had a chance to get close to either Gallagher brother, I’d slap the crap out of him.
Bands I can hardly stand to listen to? It’s so hard to pick just one.
Anal Cunt
There’s a urban legend (maybe rural legend here), in Southwest Texas, that Def Leppard came on tour here sometime in the 1980’s and during one of the concerts, Joe Elliot, the lead singer made a nasty ethnic slur on stage, directed to the Chicanos/Mexicans in the area. I don’t think they have come back since. So not to many Cholos I know would put up with them anyway…
I don’t know who sings that “Tell me…have you ever” song. I don’t want to know who that is, and that is as much as I have ever heard of that song before switching stations.
Also, Green Day (not bad music, but the silliest faux London punk vocals ever), and post “Appetite” Guns and Roses. I don’t think any other band in history sunk further faster.
Creed.
