What's your Pocket Knife?

Kershaw lockblade, mostly used for opening dvd packages.

The Leatherman Micra on my keychain sees daily use. One of the best ~$30 purchases I’ve made. I love having scissors at the ready; the problem with most small multitools is that their scissors are the crappy kind with a bent piece of metal for a spring, but the Micra’s are really functional. Now if I can just figure out the best way to sharpen them…

Swiss Gear multi-tool, and engraved Victorinox Spartan (engraving says “l’absence est a l’amour ce qu’est au feu le vent; il eteint le petit, il allume le grand”)

The Leatherman Super Tool with locking blades.

I always wanted to have a Super Tool.

God Bless America, I walked into Wal-Mart and twenty dollars later, I had one.

-humbled by the amazingliness of this-

Well, I have two really. The first is a sweet little KA-BAR that I just picked up at Cheaper than Dirt.com.

The other is a Benchmade Stryker that I got about a decade ago. This is one of the best knives that I have ever seen. They don’t make them anymore. <sniff> I may have to buy the one on this webpage just so I have an extra

Around town I slip a Camillus Silver Sword into my pocket, just a nice small lock-back for minor tasks.

Out bush I usually carry a Benchmade Ares & a Leatherman Supertool.

If I’m not hiking then my trust Himalayan Imports 15inch Ang Khola Khukuri goes along for the ride.

Leatherman PST (the original Leatherman) and Victorinox Huntsman. I used to carry these in belt sheathes, but the weight was pulling my pants down, so I keep them in my pack now.

Got a Buck 307. Had it for about 15 years.

On the side, it’s got an emblem of a hammer striking the knife on a nail. Tough ol’ thing. Feel naked without it.

I have my Leatherman Wave on my belt, my Micra in the change pocket of my jeans, my little Swiss Army knife in the left pocket, and the little lockblade that I got in the Boy Scouts about 30 years ago in the right pocket. I know it seems a bit extreme, but I don’t feel right if they’re not all in their proper places.

I carry a swiss army knife daily. It’s a tinker.

When hunting and camping I carry a leatherman. It’s one of the old ones (pre-pulse). I’ve had it for a long time and it’s a great tool.

When hunting I also carry a folding buck knife for gutting.

I have a Columbia River Knife & Tool KISS on my keychain, after going through a couple swiss army knives. The problem I had with the SA knives (even the victorinox ones) was that the scales would inevitably come off after a few years. I like it, even though I’m limited to one blade and no tools.

Leatherman Juice XE6, here. I used to carry a Swiss Tinker, but the Leatherman’s plyers and scissors are insanely useful for me. I like the feel of the Swiss blades better and would like to carry the SwissTool on my belt, but I don’t like advertising the fact I carry a pocketknife. Nearly everytime I use mine in public, I get some jibe about carrying it (“Wooo, Azul has a knife!”) when it’s just a damn tool.

Granted, people who actually know me are surprised when I don’t have a knife on me. (I use knives daily in my job and have simply come to appreciate the functional beauty and utility of a well-sharpened knife.)

I too own a Leatherman Juice Xe6. It’s my first pocketknife and I love it! I never thought I would end up using it so much! It’s awesome and so useful.

It has:
Needlenose Pliers
Straight Knife
Wire Cutters
Hard-Wire Cutters
Extra-Small Screwdriver
Small Screwdriver
Med/Lrg Screwdriver
Phillips Screwdriver
Lanyard Attachment
Can/Bottle Opener
Corkscrew with Assist
Scissors
Saw
Awl
Serrated Knife
Diamond File

I carry around with me a damascus one hand knife by AG Russell. THis is very nice because I can open and close it easily with one hand.

I used to carry around a SwissTool by Victorinos when I worked on aircraft. It is superior to the leatherman tools because all the tools lock not just the blades. A co-worker had a leatherman, but it was easy to bust knuckles working at difficult angles with it.

I also have a regular Swiss Army knife, but I’ve never carried it around. I don’t see the exact one I have on their site, it’s 15 years old though so that exact one could be discontinued.

Leatherman Super Tool 2000. Unlike previous models, all tools do lock, and the quick release is cool.

Eerie, me too. Exactly. Liked the S2 so much it not only replaced the Tinker for everyday carry, I bought one for my Dad

For backpacking I keep the S2 and add a Victorinox Hunter, and a Camillus Talon . My talon is an early limited run with 154CM steel instead of talonite (much, much cheaper).

I collect pocket knives under 4 inches in folded length. There are a lot of choices, but the one I was just using is a common old Schrade model 808, which is a 2 3/4 inch three high carbon steel bladed “Rancher” style.

Of course the blades are that grey color that regular steel gets, and they are literally razor sharp. The handles are Delrin, and the bolsters are nickel silver. It is exactly the same as the first knife I owned as a very young lad over 50 years ago, which was my most valued possession.

Sometimes I carry a Leatherman Juice too!..or a Swiss Army (several models), but my favorite is still my little Schrade. No doubt sentiment is a very large part of my taste.

I’m the only one of my friends who carries a pocket knife as a matter of course; all males carried one when I was a young boy.

A good old Buck 110. I’ve snapped the point on it once. Buck re-bladed it and polished it, and sent it back to me free.

I keep it absolutely razor sharp, of course.

And here I thought I’d be the only one with a Stryker. Sharp blade, solid construction, titanium scales…very nice knife. Unlike the one in the picture you linked, though, mine’s full auto.

My knife-of-the-moment is a Xikar Xi138. Beautiful, very sharp, and easy to open.

I also carry a Kershaw Scallion. The speedsafe spring-assisted opening is really nice. I have the plain-edge version.

When I’m less worried about space in my pockets I carry a Spyderco Delica, serrated. It was a gift from my folks.

I also frequently carry a Spyderco Q. It’s a lot like this, but it has a spiderweb-and-spider design in the blade.

I also occasionally carry a variety of no-name brand balisong knives. I love playing with them, though the double-edged one is a tad bloodthirsty.

All the knives I carry have either thumb pegs, thumb loops, or some other way to open them with one hand. And of them all, the automatic knife is the one that’s slowest to open, because of the additional safety, and it’s the only one I can’t close easily with one hand.

I use a Gerber Legend 800

Gerber 800

Because you never know when you have to do an ‘Escape and Evasion’ from Yemen.
