What's your ringtone?

Sorry about the double post…but I had to get the word *drum * in there… Geez

Another Mozart Rondo here. Mine vibrates every time, too. Might as well get the full treatment.

Clocks by Coldplay. No particular reason for it, other than all of the ringtones that came with my phone would make me more likely to throw the thing into the closest body of water than actually answer it, and that was the best version of a song I like that I could find.

I switch back and forth between the Law and Order theme and the tonal music from Close Encounters of the Third Kind

On my previous phone, I had the theme song from the Terry Gilliam movie Brazil, but it isn’t availiable for my current phone :frowning:

A little ditty I composed myself. It goes something like this:
beep beep…
beep beep…
beep beep…
Catchy, eh? The sad thing is, I literally DID have to go in to the composer to do this. All the other ring tones that came with the phone were irritatingly high-pitched. I’m sure this is so that you’ll want to buy ring tones instead, but I’m not playing that game. Downloadable ring tones interest me not in the least.

I just got a new phone last Sunday. My old phone was unable to do ringtones, so I decided to have some fun…

WTF??? I gotta pay for these damn things? $2.99 so I can hear a crappy midi (or whatever) version of the chorus from U2’s Vertigo? Many of these things are for a limited time only, or you get charged monthly just for the “privilege” of having “You Can’t Hurry Love” ring out every time somebody gives you a call.

A fool and his money, and all that jazz…

This site lets you put graphics and ringtones (real music only, I think) on your phone for free (actually, for the cost of a textmessage and downloading a small amount of data…some plans include this, some charge a small amount).

You select your carrier, your phone, register with them and then upload the file. The server makes all the necessary adjustments before sending your phone a textmessage with a link to go download your ringtone or graphic. I used it a while back and there don’t seem to be any drawbacks that I noticed. Simple.

I have a prepaid Nokia 2260, really only to make calls for emergencies, and it doesn’t have indivdual ring tones for different callers, so the ring tones are just for my amusement. The ring tones are single-voice, so that limits the choice of things that sound good. I like classical music, but I thought the free ring tones sucked, so I coded a number of them myself manually, in RTTTL, and used a website to play and then send them to my phone.

I thought the Bach pieces turned out the best for the most part. I’m using a longer Bach passage for my text message ring tone (because it doesn’t repeat). I’m using a snippet of a Poulenc piece for the voice ring.

Some of the other tones I did:
Rondo alla turca (first phrase of F# minor section)
Harmonious Blacksmith (first phrase of 4th variation)
Muppet Show theme (I didn’t like the free versions available)

My phone is a Samsung i600, so uploading new ringtones is easy.

I clipped the opening 30 seconds of the Buckaroo Banzai theme music. Most people say “huh, that’s interesting” but a select few say “whoa, that’s cool.”

The other phone I carry when I am on call is the Batphone, so one of the other guys downloaded the old Adam West Batman theme for it. It works well.

I must say I am jealous of the FF7 themes, though.

I just picked one of the tunes on the Nokia that I got a couple months ago: a ditty called “Blue Ice.” It’s kind of cute and catchy.

Right now for my calls with id its Ameries “The One Thing” I love that song

I recently upgraded to a new cell phone, and its ringtones suck. I’m currently using “The Hall of the Mountain King” because it’s the best of the lot but I’m eventually going to upgrade to a polyphonic ringtone, probably Franz Ferdinand’s “Take Me Out.” Before this phone, my ringtone was “Hava Nagila.” It was never mistaken for anyone else’s.
