What's your ringtone?

My old phone had a very complex system of ringtones. Lovefool for the friends that I got calls from regularly, Batman theme (the one that goes "na na na na na na na na BATMAN!) for one friend whose a huge comic book geek, Fraggle Rock theme for my parents, Super Mario Bros. theme for professionals (doctors, piano teacher, and the like) and Buddy Holly by Weezer for everyone else. I’ve only had my new phone for a few weeks, so the only one I’ve gotten around to downloading is “Sheena is a punk rocker” by the Ramones. The quality is fairly crappy, but it makes me extremely happy every time my phone rings. Plus, its much louder than my old ringtones, so now I almost never miss a call.

I’ve got the Super Mario Bros. theme. I get lots of compliments on it from strangers. It was either that or The Simpsons. I figured SMB was more unique, but Entertainment weekly had it in a list of the most popular ringtones. Of course, this means I have to change it.

My mother visited us one weekend. She was awake before either of us and had just walked out of the bathroom and heard a video game and had no idea where it was coming from! The TV wasn’t on, nor was anything else that makes noise, so she was freaked out for a minute.

Mine is set to vibrate 95% of the time. When I turn the sound on, it has the simplest ring available, just two short rings.

I loathe fancy ring tones. If you happen to be riding the Blue or Brown Lines and your phone rings and you see a girl with brown hair and blue eyes glaring at you, wave and say “hi Kyla!”

Linus & Lucy, aka the Charlie Brown and Snoopy theme song.

I never mistake my phone for anyone else’s, either.

Vibrate. Or I turn the damned thing off.

The Coca-Cola jingle.

Vibrate…but then it turns into the theme song from Mission Impossible.

It was the only one I could find on the T-Mobile website that I liked. Cost a one time fee of $1.50 and a lot better than the T-Mobile ring. I would constantly jump to answer my phone everytime their stupid commercials were shown on tv.

I payed $2 bucks to have a snippet of ‘Mac the Knife’ for my ringtone.

It’s a pun on my IRL name.

I wished it had the ‘When the sharks bites, with it’s teeth, dear’ part, but It’s a different part of the song.

For pretty much anyone I have a lovely feminine voice saying “Hi, this is your telephone talking. I wouldn’t be bothering you, but someone’s calling.” I likes my technology subservient damnit!

For my wife, the opening bars of “Basket Case” by Green Day.

Do you have the time, to listen to me whine
About nothing and everything all at once…

For anyone who thinks that sounds terrible, she’s a Green Day fan and she loves it.

For a good friend of mine, the opening bars of AC/DC’s “Back in Black”

I’ve been thinking of assigning other ringtones to a couple other people in my address book, but those were the only ones I have done so far because they were just so appropriate for each caller.

Enjoy,
Steven

“You’ve got another think coming” by Judas Priest.

For when my parents call, an annoying, high pitched, semi-normal riiiiiiiing!

For anyone else, whatever the default is. I hardly ever get actual calls other than my parents; for the most part, I’m in tune with the text-message indicator noise.

Mom: FF7 victory music.
Sister or her husband: The few opening bars from the Silent Hill 1 main theme. The creepy harpsichord.
People from work: The sad walking away music from the Incredible Hulk TV show.
Random people: FF1 battle music.
Whoever I’m dating at the moment: Ai (Theme from Excel Saga)

Ringers that I don’t remember to whom I have them assigned (if anybody):

Various sound clips from Rejected (My spoon is too big. My anus is bleeding! (I really should assign that last one to someone))
Theme to Beetlejuice (the cartoon)
A clip from Black Belt Jones, assigned to a friend of mine named Jones who happens to have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do (“What in the hell?” "It’s Jones! Spread out! Spread out!)
Danger Mouse theme
Hocus Pocus
SMB themes (main from SMB1, underground from SMB3)
Tainted Love
Whip It
Opening theme of Wild ARMS
Music from Zozo in FF6
Overworld theme from Zelda

This is the first time I’ve had a phone I could personalize so I went a little wild:

If bowler guy calls, the theme from Angel.
My stepsons, the theme from Austin Powers.
If my work calls, Peter Gunn theme.
All others in my phone book, theme from Seinfeld.
Out of my phone book, Weapon of Choice.

I have American Idiot on my pone, but as mine doesn’t play MP3’s (well it could but it’s not set up to) it doesn’t sound the greatest.

Otherwise I’d have Edna Mode saying ‘It’s for you dahling’ but it won’t work.

In honor of Summer, I use “Take me out to the ballgame,” which I transcribed into the phone myself. I even used special effects.

It goes “Where it’s one (phone vibrates), two (phone vibrates), three strikes (phone vibrates and continues vibrating) you’re out at the old ballgame!”

The first two vibrates are on the offbeats and they’re short pulses. The third is right after the word “three” and continues on vibrating until the end.

It’s bouncy, it’s appropos of the season. I like it.

Wild Thing

I can’t believe I’m the first to say this:

The CTU phone ring

Well, it’s not on my current phone, because it doesn’t accept ringtones dagnabit! But I got a new PDA-phone that can do any WAV file, and that’s what I was going to set it to, but I have to return the thing cause the screen is busted.

I had my Alma Mater’s fight song (On Wisconsin) for the NCAA tournament.

Now it is “Gangsters Paradise”, by Coolio. (I got that one just for my bosses calls, but now I use it for everyone.

I’ve had three ringtones in the last year.

Funky Town by Lips Inc

Kryptonite by Three Doors Down…(it was actually just the intro, but it did have a cool drum part…for a cell phone)

Now I have Accidently In Love by The Counting Crows.
