Who rejected you with a 1600? (Assuming this was when 1600 was the max)
1140
Somewhere in the high 700s for English
Low 400s for Math cuz it’s the goddamn devil.
Man I’m dumb compared to ya’ll
Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Stanford, Cal Tech.
I was a high school student in Australia at the time so I only applied for the top of the range given that I had a full ride scholarship at a top state school here.
Mine was very similar in 1980. Took it a couple of times because of National Merit scholar stuff. Interestingly I did much better on the GRE than the SAT.
1490: 800 Verbal, 690 Math. I want to say 2005, whatever the last year of 1600 was. My class was right on the cusp.
Same here – 720 Verbal/800 Math/800 Analytical. It helped that you could get some wrong and still get 800!
750 Math, 660 Verbal, back in 1990-1991. I just happen to be a good test taker.
I don’t remember the exact breakdown, but I’m fairly certain that my highest combined score was a 1950 out of 2400 when I last took the test in 2008. It was the second highest grade in my graduating class, behind a girl who got a 2100.
Interestingly, CA now mandates that high school students pass a test called the California High School Exit Exam in order to be able to graduate at all. I took that fucking thing the first year it was required and got a perfect score on it, the only one in my class to do so if I recall. Still, that test basically just boils down to pass/fail, so my score didn’t amount to jack shit.
A lot of good all of that testing did me, though. Now I go to a community college.
1510/1600, in 1985.
When I took it as a senior in HS I got 690 Verbal, 650 Math, for a total of 1340 out of 1600.
I was also selected to take it in the eighth grade to try to make the Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University. That same year my sister was a HS senior and I outscored her then, even though I scored a lot lower than 1340. I do not remember my score, but I scored higher on Math then. I came up less than 40 points shy of qualifying for CTY, IIRC. They also included the Test of Standard Written English with the SAT back then and I scored abysmally low on that one. I didn’t have to take the TSWE again in HS, thank God.
1550 (750 math, 800 verbal) as a senior. I went too slow on one section of the math test and didn’t finish all the questions, so that’s where most or all of the 50 points came off.
1310 (680 math, 630 verbal) in the 7th grade testing for CTY, but I didn’t go there that year.
670/720 -> 1390. I took it twice and only improved by 10 points. I wanted that 1400, dammit.
ETA: On the other hand, I rocked the PSAT. Received a National Merit Scholarship.
640 math/420 verbal in 1972. I only took it once with no prep in my junior year and that was enough to get in early at the college I wanted, so there. I’m still pretty much illiterate though. I got a 16 (out of 100) on the spelling potion of a standardized test in high school (yes, I was trying.)
It was 36 years ago, and honestly, I don’t remember the scores. I was in the 99th percentile in language, that much I remember.
Whoops. I voted on the 2400 scale.
I had the flu when I took it. Was totally miserable with fever, sore throat, coughing, sneezing, etc. But I still aced it.
