800 on Math and 710 on $#@!! English.
The raw/scaled/percentile scores were redone sometime after 1979 (when I took it)-my 1280 nonetheless got me into the 98th percentile, when it would only be c. 89th percentile today.
I got a 1200 something. I can’t remember exactly. It was a 780 or 790 in verbal, nearly perfect, and a 490 in math. I selected the wrong number up there, though - I remember it as being lower but I remember my individual scores pretty clearly!
I hated that math section of it.
I think it was something like 1230/1600. Frankly I’m surprised it was that high; the night before I was out crazy late getting hammered with a couple friends. Had I slept at all (and been sober for the test), I probably could have done significantly better, but I guess we’ll never know.
I got a 1390, which was 700 math and 690 verbal, and if you don’t think that I would remember the single test that I have ever taken in my entire academic career in which I scored higher in math than in verbal/English, you are so very wrong. This is not even a sneak brag, this is a full-on brag. Look at my math score, motherfuckers! I did math during that test that I can’t even remember the name of anymore! SEVEN HUUUUNNDRREEEED. fist pump
I took it in 2002, I think. I don’t remember what my score was, but the number 1280 keeps coming up in my mind, so that’s what I’ll go with. I think I was higher in my verbal score than in math, but I might have that backwards.
I wasn’t planning on taking the SATs (or going to college) so I signed up to take it only a few days before actually taking it. As a result, I did not study at all (literally). Never heard of the ACT until a couple of years into college so I never took that. I did, however, get a perfect score on my ASVAB, which I am quite proud of.
ETA: That’s 1280 out of 1600.
What’s a perfect score? I know I scored in the 99th %ile, and my ‘GT Score’ (whatever that is) was 130 or something.
630/670 (I forget which was verbal and which was math), 1300/1600. Took it once, after partying the night before.
I believe it was the second-highest score in my class of around 150 kids (my class rank was something like 30/150). I was a fairly good standardized test-taker and a fairly lazy student.
One zillion and one, Bob. Suck it!
Oh, wait, faux humility. I, um, haven’t dusted in a while, so clearly SAT scores don’t count for much.
- Anything between 254 and 320 is considered 99th percentile which is, essentially, the highest score you can achieve.
I scored 2400 out of 1600. 2500 math, 167 verbal. Lightly traced the outline of each oval using a #9H pencil, just like they tell you to. Because I scored off the chart, they let me beat up two classmates of my choice and the teacher let me wear her panties for the rest of the day. Then we all caught a freight train to Gary and got blind drunk on wood alcohol. You might’ve read about it in the Oct. 1976 edition of Highlights for Children.
Well I felt pretty sure about the 130, but that doesn’t fit with your info. I wonder if scales or methods have changed.
If only there were a way I could type a question in to a computer a find out! Heh.
Too bad we don’t have SATs where I’m from. All we had was the wood alcohol and I didn’t even go blind
Graduated from high school in 1977, when the max was 1600.
580 verbal, 740 math, for a total of 1320.
I also didn’t pay attention to the instructions wrt leaving answers blank when not sure. Consequently I put down an answer regardless. I figure it cost me some points in the verbal portion.
1430- 720 verbal, 710 math. Got me into the state university pretty much automatically, but other than that no one cares. Grades are more important.
I got a 1600 and didn’t get into any of the colleges I applied for :(.
This is only one person’s opinion, but . . .
My friend is an admissions officer at a very good university, and she said that when looking at an application, high SAT scores and low grades are a major red flag for her. It seems to indicate that the student has intelligence and the ability to do well but lacks the interest in working hard over the long term.
High grades and low SAT scores (within reason) were a much better bet to gain admission at her school.
I got a 600 math and a 670 verbal for a 1270 out of 1600.
That’s your side of the story, but what happened to Goofus?
800 verbal. Can’t remember math, but I seem to recall being in the 1400s combined.
You’re talking to him, pal!
