Every morning M-F; only when I feel like it Sa or Su, which isn’t often these days.
I use one of them Braun electric shavers which I’ve had forever. My beard is fairly tough, and it does an okay job. Blades work better, and every now and then I think about going back to a blade, but I go to swim practice in the mornings. So I’d have to pack my shaving kit along with my suit, goggles, chammy, shampoo, et al., and then shave after I get out of the pool. As it is now, I can shave before I go, leave the razor at home, and not worry about one more obstacle between me and the office.
Periodic passes with the electric’s beard-trimmer thingy on the nether regions when the mood strikes me (every 3 wks to a month).
It is! TONS. I used to use scissors until a friend suggested one of those beard trimmer things. You can get awfully close with one of those without even trying… and it’s fast too!
Considering you can pick a cheap one up for about $20 in a Walgreens (drugstore), I’d recommend it very highly.
I shave the cheeks and neck with a Phillips electric razor every day or every other day. If it’s an “every other day” week, I usually have to use a trimmer, too, as my facial hair grows pretty dang fast.
I also use a beard trimmer (don’t know what kind) on my goatee every couple of weeks or so.
However, it’s a different matter over the course of a school semester. If I’m making an effort, then I’ll still do it as frequently. But if I’m in the middle of a project, I’ll let it go…and grow…and grow. I firgure that I’m in a dark editing room alone for eight hours/day, anyway, so what’s the point?
Well, I bought a Mach3 last night and gave it test drive, so to speak.
Worked well on the legs and bikini area. No knicks or cuts. That may be because the thing was wicked-looking sharp and I was afraid of it. I think it growled at me.
However…
$6.49 for 4 replacement blades!? My Scottish grandfather would be rolling in his grave [sub]if he was dead if he knew I was planning on spending that much on razor blades. Ay yie, yie! My grandmother, ever frugal, would probably ask me why I can’t try to sharpen them myself. She’d use it until you couldn’t cut paper with it.
As an aside, I can’t picture wanting to shave one’s genitials and found the thread about it odd, I had no idea any men did it, or that that many women did. Trimming I can understand, but shaving so you look 10 years old I can’t.
Anyway, it depends on the time of the year. If it’s “winter” (which was almost six months this year) I’ll use my trusty old electric on my legs once every week or week and a half, depending on how fast the hair grows, and if I’m required to wear panty hose I’ll use a regular razor instead. Regular razor on under arms about twice a week. If it’s “summer” (read: shorts weather) I use one of those lovely pastel bic twin blades (which seem to work much better than the cartiage one I bought) and skintimate vitamin e(purple label) forumula, since I’m convinced it’s the only one that helps prevent nicks and cuts, every other day or twice a week on both legs and under arms. I never wear tank tops, because I burn easiest on the shoulders, even with sun screen, or I’d probably do my underarms daily during the summer.
One thing I’ve never quite figured out about shaving one’s legs: some of us shave from ankle to hip, but I’ve known many women who stop right above their knee. Why would you only shave half your leg?
Cause I don’t need to shave the whole one. The hair on my upper leg is light and sparse. I only shave below the knee and my bikini line. The rest of the leg is just extra work.
Well, from the men’s side, I’ll voice my opinion: I like the way it feels and think it looks okay. Like a 10 year old? Not hardly. I still have hair on my abdomen and legs, it’s just the dangly bits that are clean as a whistle.
For the women, as an appreciator (not a word, but you know what I mean) of a well kept…hoo-haa, I’ve always found it highly erotic to see the area trimmed, shaved or otherwise showing signs of routine maintenance. Not that an overgrown bush, so to speak, is a turn-off, but that one that is nicely trimmed and, ahem, lips, that are shaved (or very well trimmed) makes for much better oral access. That’s all.
I shave once or twice a week, using Edge Gel (the light blue cap) and a Mach 3, which I wouldn’t be able to afford but my mom works at a CVS pharmacy and gets them for me at employee discount. Since I work outside, I’m under no requirement to shave regularly for the job, which is nice. I’m fairly experimental about my facial hair as it is.
