What's Your Shaving Preference?

Me, I shave my face once a week on Mondays (for the start of the work week) and nothing else. Always in the shower with no shaving cream and scalding hot water. I use a Mach 3 razor.

What about you guys and gals? What do you shave, how often, what kind of technique and with what?

I shave every morning with either a Sensor or a Mach 3. I’ve got very pale skin and a very dark beard; immediately after shaving I’ve got a 5 o’clock shadow, even though my skin’s as smooth as an android’s butt.

Er…you ARE a male, aren’t you?

Do you have just the faintest hint of adorable peach fuzz on your chin, or co-workers who don’t mind that you look like a Yeti by Friday?

Every day, seven days a week, after the morning shower, with Burma Shave shaving soap whipped to a lather in my stylish Burma Shave shaving mug and applied to my face with either me $3.95 Burma Shave pig-bristle/rubber handled shaving brush, or the fancypants badger-hair/ivory-handled Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving brush my wife gave me as a gift a few years back. Whiskers are then scraped off with an old safety razor with a new double-edged blade inside. Occasionally Witch Hazel is slapped on afterward as a bracer.

Why yes, I am a male, thanks for noticing.

And yes, I do look like a Yeti by Friday, at least that’s what Mrs. Amp says. I used to shave everyday for three years when I was in the Army and would get the most wicked ass razor bumps in the world. When I got out I vowed to myself I would never go through that again.

legs, pits, bikini line.
every morning in the shower.
with shaving oil and a nice sharp razor.

because, while i love stubble on a guy, it’s not the best look on me…

The previous post has been brought to you by Burma Shave.
Don’t just shave…Burma Shave!
Every other morning, Mach 3 and Gillette Extra Sensitive Gel.

3-4 times a week using Neutrogena face soap as a base, on-sale shaving cream (currently Barbasol I think) and a Mach 3. Usually a Monday/Wednesday/Friday routine with an occasional weekend trim if we’re going places. I can go one day without a shave at work, but longer than that and people start setting traps. Can’t wait for fall so I can start my yearly experiment with facial hair.

Every single morning. Gilette double blade, mint cream, before showering. Used to do it in the shower but, with experimentation, I found it’s faster in the sink.

Mach 3 Blade
Edge Shaving Gel
Every morning except Saturdays and holidays at the sink after my shower
I used to use various electrics for over 10 years. But I found it was cheaper, faster and smoother to use a good blade instead.

I finally ponied up and went laser route.
let me tell you, despite what you might think, the most painful area was the arm pits.
Not having anything to reference it to, I can imagine that it feels like getting a tattoo. only invisible.

so, no more shaving for me, except my legs (for now!)
I use an electric for that.

Absofrigginlutely! When I get out of the Air Force it will be a miracle if I shave more than twice a week.

I use Edge Non-Allergenic Non-Perfumed Non-Anything Gel, and a Mach III. Down first, then side to side, then against the grain. D*mn my hairy Italian blood.

This might be TMI for some of you, but I’m female and I don’t shave anything. (Yes, I’m an American, and not very hairy.) I might shave my pits about twice a year, maybe.

Exactly what Bartman said. Every last word.

Well, what you need, my friend, is to treat yourself to a tube or jar of the one and only Burma-Shave. That’s “Burma-Shave,” B-U-R-M-A-S-H-A-V-E. Now with Lanolin!

Remember,

Use our cream
And we betcha
Girls won’t wait
They’ll come
And getcha

BURMA-SHAVE.

Strictly the cheeks and neck, and that much only in order to contribute to the perception that the beard and moustache and sideburns exist on purpose and not as a result of neglect. I use a sensor.

About 2-3 times per week, girly shaving cream for sensitive skin (I believe it’s Gilette) and a sensor excell razor. I’m allergic to metal so I shouldn’t use a razor at all, but I’m more allergic to depilatories.

Waxing just plain old hurts. Although probably not as much if there’s a professional doing it.

I believe we’ve covered this subject before, but I’ll give it another swipe (so to speak):

Edge gel
Sensor (I go through razor blades like no tomorrow, so the Mach III is just way too expensive a proposition)
Every morning (even Saturday and Sundays - I just feel kind of slovenly if I don’t have a morning shave)

After shower, soak washcloth in hot water and apply to face (more water causes your beard to swell, making it easier to cut). Apply shaving creme to your parts. Swipe, rinse blade. Swipe, rinse blade. Always down, in the direction of hair growth (I get ingrown hairs if I shave against the grain).

A little diluted moisterizer afterwards to sooth the skin.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Gents, if you’ve never experienced it get yourself on over to your friendly neighborhood barber and get a shave from a professional (not many of them do it anymore so you may have to look around some). Don’t worry, he’s not going to cut your throat - and if he did you’d be dead long before you ever felt a thing. Those straight razors are S-H-A-R-P.

Mach 3 razors are for techno wimps. I use a C 3 razor. Three times the speed of light. I shave once on Friday for the entire previous week.

The only problem is that if I do forget to shave, causality is violated and time and space as we know it come to an end.

This is so true. I went for a haircut at an old style barbers near my house, and he gave me a shave also. It scared the hell outta me, but damn, after that my neck was as smooth as my butt the day I was born!

I also use a Mach 3, and Edge gel, but I really dont have a regular schedual. I mostly get hair on my neck, almost nothing above or below my lips, or on my cheeks. But I get a lot on my neck. I prolly shave every 4 days, and by then it looks like a veritable forest. Ususally I only shave when people start commenting on my “shaggyness.”

'Bought every other day. Save the mustache and Im trying this thing with the little under the lip goatee point to see how it looks.

Cheap shaving cream or soap. Recently tried the Mach 3 route. LOVE IT. Dull now though and I cant make myself pony up the bucks for those overpriced blades! Back to a sensor.
