Mine means nothing besides the fact that it’s a good peice of advice.
Ayup, that’s basically the response I got when I started the exact same thread a month ago…
My user name is the one I’ve been using ever since I visited my first message board many years ago. The message board in question was science fiction related, and I chose my username to let people in the science fiction community know that I was the creator of the at that time moderately famous Barry’s Temple of Godzilla.
When I started posting at other, non science fiction related, message boards, I kept using the name out of habit.
Barry
Peas, picked when very young and eaten pod and all. So you “eat all” the pod, and not just the peas.
Mine is out of C. S. Lewis’s “Silent Planet” trilogy. It is both the name of the planetary archangel in charge of Mars, and the name of the planet itself. (Earth is “Thulcandra”, the silent planet. Others on request.)
I would like to be clever enough to think of a username that’s funny. It’s a whole lot easier this way, since I dont actually have to think of something special, which is beyond my capabilities.
Cletus, on the show, I’ve only ever heard him referred to as Cletus the slack jawed yokel, but I’ll do a check in my simpson’s encyclopedia. I’m sorry, I guess I really am the biggest simpsons nerd ever.
Harry
Yes, his full name is Cletus Theslackjawedyokel.
“Some folks’ll never lose a toe, and then again some folks’ll. He’s Cletus Theslackjawedyokel.”
Barry
Mine is my actual name…
My name is harder than it looks. I remember hearing Steve Wright reading it aloud on BBC’s ‘Wright around the world’ and laughing my ass off. He mangled it beyond recognition…
I would have used what my friends call me IRL but they all just call me B, the first letter of my last name. In the 50s my grandad had a diner called Daddy B’s and for the rest of his life thats what he was known as. Also, he kept bees in his garden so he was sometimes Mr B.
I chose this username cos to the same friends who call me B i’m also the captain of the ship with my first mate and pirate friends. Yeah, we’re strange but we need to escape from it all sometimes.
Not telling lol… I use Yahoo Messenger a lot (to contact the bf and I have a few very good friends from the US I speak to on it)… and despite my actual ID there (a variation of Honey that could be construed as a “come and get me” name), I have my nickname set as Honey so its the only name that shows.
Now search every Yahoo room and you might find me !!!
I think its more of a gay thing to be honest - I believe that site my friend found was a gay related site (which is no bother to me, hey hairy naked guys are still hairy naked guys right I ain’t complaining about nothing when I’m sitting there drooling :D).
PS I need a sig… hmmmmm that’ll take some thinking…
Unfortunately, yes. Hands Honey a towel Here, wipe your chin.
How about
…And you wouldn’t BELIEVE the size of that hive!
And who has time to hit the “Shift” key when taking care of all those animals?
For my username I wanted something that would be easy for other people to remember, and something that would suggest a persona. I chose Lagomorph in honor of our pet rabbits. I added the Laughing to make it both longer and alliterative, and therefore even more memorable.
Basically, I don’t care how lame my username seems to you, as long as your remember it!
Mine is simply “Lefirret” spelled backwards, obviously.
Initials. And some dots.
How unbelievably uncreative.
…
Mine comes from my husband. His name on some boards is “Streetpreacher”, so naturally I am the “preacherswife”…
It’s a little weird, now I come to think of it… In my sister’s Manatee language - which only two people in the whole world speak fluently, my sister and I - my name (Rachel) is pronounced R’Shill. She usually shortens that to Shill and my family call me that. I use it as my name on all sorts of things, so it was the obvious name when I finally came to delurk on here.
My sister’s name is Helen, which changes to H’Lin, so I just call her Lin. It’s caused all sorts of confusion at uni, as my friends keep asking me who ‘Shill’ is, and why my sister keeps drawing me pictures with that word on them. If they make fun of the explanation, I just tell them they’re higyiribillolay and run off :D.
I’ve always loved the word fey for some reason, and it suits me in an odd, quirky kind of way.
I’m named after the James Bond movie by the same name.
I like your username. It creates a great mindpicture, even though I’ve never seen the gf’s lagomorphs laugh. An occasional bunny dance, but no laughing.
I forgot to mention that I am not the Mangetout (Mr Mangetout, a quirky Frenchman famed for eating broken glass and bicycles) - not me.
Well, I live in the outlet near the lightswitch…
And I’m watching over you…
Right now…
