Having a kind of satisfying morning emailing- after leaving that airport open day with the impression that it was a bit of a waste of time, I’d been offered 3 interviews and one possible. The rest were next week, so I just had to let them know ‘thanks, but I ain’t show in’ up’.
Out of the options, the coffee shop was the nicest (one was basically queue control, the other car rental, which was way too sales focussed for my liking), so that worked out.
I’m trying to decide if I should tell the security jerk that I quit as from now- the new place wants me start Monday if I can’t do Saturday, and it’d be nice to have a full day Oop North rather than having to rush it. He still owes me some wages though, and I don’t know how well he’ll react to me quitting.
The snow and sleet have stopped. However tree branches and whole trees are still coming down. I get to close at a store on the other side of the city tonight.
Guess what? It’s snowing in no. Illinois. Another 3 inches, and more on Sunday (that’s what she said <snerk>). My water heater is knocking so the plumber is coming this afternoon to drain it. Who has a more exciting life than moi?
I was able to reschedule for Monday. Yay! I’ll still get out and shovel when it stops snowing today, but now I’ll have all afternoon to do it. Which suits me fine.
Looks like the snow has finally stopped, and near as I can tell, it’s about 5" deep or so. On the plus side, it’s hovering right around freezing, so not near as wicked cold as last week when we shoveled. On the other hand, our driveway is still about 100’ long. After lunch, I’ll bundle up and have at it.
**Midget **- we thought we had a guy all lined up to take care of our driveway, but there was virtually no snow last year, and this year he hasn’t bothered to show up. Screw it - I can do it myself.
Well, that was easy! I don’t think I did half a dozen shovels full when a kid with a plow drove by. $20 and it’s done. Best of all, he’ll come back if it snows again. YAY! I did have to dig out the mailbox, but that didn’t take 5 minutes.
YAY!
Plus I knocked the snow off the truck and cleared the way from its parking pad to the driveway. It was hardly worth the effort of putting on all those layers of clothes!
Your quiche looks good, shoe! I am, however, puzzled about the lack of cheese.
My crazy neighbor across the hall was up pounding on the floor half the night. I awoke dragging butt.
We got about 1" of fresh snow which isn’t bad without ice under it. I started the truck this morning and got out to brush the snow off. When I tried to get in to leave, you guessed it, I had locked myself out. Of a running vehicle. With my house key and phone in it. At 6:30 am. :smack:
I knocked on my retired neighbor’s door (shes an early riser) to call the management for lock out. I figured it would be at least 45 minutes before I could get into my apartment to get the spare truck key (the manager isn’t on site). I lucked out. It was bug man day and Miss Sarah (my neighbor) is entrusted with the keys for him. I actually made it to irk on time!
**red **- that reminds me - I need to get a spare truck key made. We each have one, but if I locked myself out of the truck at home and he’s at work, that’s 20 miles away. Yeah, I need to get a spare.
Last night in bed I felt something bunchy… Turns out my bottom sheet has a big hole in it. So had to order new sheets from Tar-jay. They have organic cotton sheets, and are ready for pick up on my way home to meet the plumber. W00T.
I was awakened at 5:15 Ante Meridian by someone listening to talk radio outside. After planning how to torture them to death for five minutes, I gave up and got some coffee. At 5:30 my Beloved Wife came in the front door. She had gotten off from work early, and sat in the driveway until 5:30 not to wake me up.
I know some of you people had something to do with this.
I name no names. :dubious:
I had a nice Skype chat with a friend today. We played Scrabble over Skype.
I have to decide whether I will go out to the concert tonight. I’d love to go and it isn’t expensive, but it’s a bit far away and it’s still bloody cold.
My sweetie came home early. The dr’s office was closed so his appt has to be rescheduled. Someone called here and she said she’d call his other number. Apparently she didn’t. So he’s snoozing.
I re-sheeted the bed and emptied the dishwasher. So I accomplished something today.
Mooommmm, iffn the truck has a ‘big’ key go to Home Despot & argue with them that you only need a door lock key, not one with the 'puter chip to start the car. The difference is probably over $100 savings but will still get you in the locked door to where your regular key is.
