Wheee! Shopping for meee!

So, I got some money for my birthday and I’ve been hanging on to it and waiting to find something I really, really couldn’t live without. So many things I want that I normally don’t get to buy, but how to narrow it down? Well, today I found it.

:: doing the happy dance! ::

Feast your eyes on my brand new bedding set that I stumbled upon at the Lazarus-Macy’s Thanksgiving sale.* There is truly much thanks to give. It’s the nicest bedding I’ve ever had, even if it didn’t come with that lovely bed skirt. However, I got it so cheap that I was able to walk away with a couple of decorative pillows and two sheet sets (by kicking in some of the tip money I’ve been saving for something special). Now, other than making a bed skirt to match, a down blanket will complete the ensemble. Well, maybe some matching curtains, too.

Anyone know where I can get dupioni silk in jewel tones on the cheap? Other than eBay?

  • After all this time, I’ve finally figured out that it rocks to save my birthday money from early November until late November and hit the best sale of the year!

Gorgeous! Cheap things rule, kind of like my bedding - a mattress, a sheet, a heavier blanket, and some pillows. Whatever order, doesnt matter what parts are there, and I find myself a nice sleeping arangement.

Also, Yay! for Pilgrims that gave us lower prices!

Thanks! I’m pretty picky when it comes to home fashions because I’m not a huge fan of frills and flowers. But everything I’ve had up to now has been dirt, dirt cheap or hand-me-downs. Beggars can’t be choosers. I’ve never had any kind of coordinating thing going on at all. I’ve settled with clean and not ratty.

But no more. I’m gonna feel like a queen the first time I crawl into my luxurious bed once I’ve finished the ensemble. I think I might wait until I get it all together and decorate my bedroom the way I’ve always wanted to (on the cheap, of course) coordinated-like before I break out the goodies. That way I’ll really feel like I’ve arrived. Even if I haven’t really.

Wonder how long I’ll be able to stare wistfully at my find sitting in its packaging waiting for the make-over.

Cinnamon Girl, I have a couple of suggestions for your question,

  1. If you are reasonably near an upscale sewing, fabric store such as Britex or G Street Fabrics, check out the incredible silks. Every color you can think of with fairly reasonable prices.
    or . .

  2. If you’re not within driving distance of these stores, go to your bookstore and buy a sewing magazine. There will be boatloads of ads in the back of the magazine and you’re sure to find what you want.

Good Luck and congratulations on your big score!!
