I originally thought of this as a Star Trek thread but you can use it for any movie star.
Keep in mind they tend to shy away from dialogue.
My Trek actors would be
Nichelle Nicoles, when she pulls the phaser on the rookie in ST III
Lenoard Nimoy He’ll say, Live Long and Prosper.
Shatner Probably some smirking scene, though they may go with one of his closing lines “Let’s see what she’s got” “That a-way” or “Second star to the right and straight on till morning”
George Takei will have him sitting as the captain during his last chat with Kirk in VI or his line “Fly her apart then!” from STVI.
But of course, it doesn’t have to be just Star Trek. I’ve heard there are movies other than Star Trek made.
OK so when Harrison Ford dies, they will show Han Solo and Indy Jones. But what clip?
Sword vs pistol?
“Trust me”?
Him adjusting the ammount of sand in the bag and snatching the idol?
Either that, or he’ll be on the inside of the reactor, dying, whispering to Shatner through the glass. The needs of the many…outweigh the needs of the few. Or the one.
For Shatner, I think the scenes with Edith Keeler epitomize his Kirkness. Add in the Torn Shirt Kirk from Shore Leave (fighting Finnegan) and perhaps a shot of him in his chair (all TOS, btw, no bloody A, B, C, or D!) and you have what I would see as a fitting tribute.
But those aren’t move clips. When Jame D died, did they show a clip of him from the TV series? I can’t recall. They may have had a shot of him in engineering with his red shirt but, I think they like movie clips.
Well, it is the Academy Awards show remembrance clip show, so that’s why they’re going to show movie clips. (That said, I love that part of the broadcast.)
Nahh — I’d expect the “Diner” scene from Five Easy Pieces to be his signature scene.
It really would be a shame if they used “Heeeeeeere’s …Johnny!” from The Shining, or one of his Joker scenes from Batman, or a scene from his Roger Corman flicks (or Little Shop of Horrors!), but I’ll bet someone will be dumb enough to do that.
Charlton Heston will be Moses, parting the Red Sea. And that’s a pity, because he had much better roles, and was a better actor, than that part let him be. It was too early in his career to.
Actually, for Rutger, they should use the redemption/death of Roy Batty, because of how moving the words are: “I’ve seen … things … you people wouldn’t believe.”
Brad Pitt: “Neal, in Montana there’s three things we’re never late for: church, work and fishing.” or maybe: “No words can describe it. May as well ask Heaven what it sees; no human can know.”
At this point something from Spanglish or Punch Drunk Love. Both terrific movies (PDL was I think the best movie that year) which showed that he can actually act.
For big stars don’t they tend to show 2 or 3 clips? Especially if they had long careers. For Nicholson, I could see them showing, Little Shop, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and As Good as it Gets.
Julia Roberts it will be the Pretty Woman laughing snapping jewelcase scene.
