The other hippie fix for that case is to smack the starter once or twice with a hammer, then try starting. Provided you can get to it… Seriously.
Disappointment.
Minor and temporary, but disappointment none the less.
Sigh.
I’ve done that to various old cars, but I didn’t have a hammer last night. Besides, how well received would it be to start smashing away at some stranger’s engine in the middle of a dark parking lot?
AWWW {{{Soapy}}}. I hope it’s all better soon.
Howdy Y’all! I’m learning how to read ATT wireless and combined bills. Whee! Maybe I’ll understand my next phone bill!
I’m off to chop and saute peppers and onions. I’m usin’ the rest of the roast beast to make my version of cheesesteaks for dindin. NUM!!!
KT’s working from home today so he’s in charge of dindin. He’s got something in the slow cooker that sort of resembles mole. (OK, how do I make that look like the Mexican food involving cocoa powder in the sauce as opposed to a small rodent?) It smelled really good when I was home at lunch time. Not sure what all went into it other than beef, tomatoes, cocoa powder, and spices. Will report back tomorrow.

I finished my introduction last night and sent it off to my thesis director. To celebrate I’m getting myself a little present to celebrate. From here on out it’s revisions and conclusions.
I’m making hamburger patties and sloppy joe filling that should last me through the weekend. I want to go to the grocery store, but I have to clean out the freezer and pantry first. No unnecessary spending for me.
Hey!
**Swampy **-- I used to work for a Mobile provider, too – I was Software Team Leader in Engineering, which means I was responsible for rolling out the first Hebrew-enabled mobile web browsers, and the websites and technology to support and provide content for them.
This all started way back in the 20th century though (well, *technically *the 20th century, anyway – this was in 2000.)
Cool OP!
I’ve since moved on to a somewhat tangentially related field, but I still remember a fair amount of the stuff I learned about the technology there… Is AT&T a CDMA or GSM provider, BTW?
Speaking of acronyms, I submit that we should nickname 3acresandatruck as “AT&3” (even if it’s a bit out of order)
Have read along but haven’t felt like contributing so far this week, and have retained little, sorry.
{{{Ivory}}} – Hope it’s really something minor, and hope it goes away soon, whatever it is
Yay for Spaz! Getting the framework done is always the hardest – once you know what you want to say and roughly how you’re going to say it, writing gets easier
I want some snow… I’ll trade you some great bathing weather! And I also believe in not needing a swim suit in good company (notice I did not say “polite,” as these are not the same!)
Poor daughter was sent home today with absolutely no voice. She feels fine - just can’t talk above a whisper. **FCD **is crashed on the couch - he did a design review today - first on this job - and I guess he was more stressed than he let on. But part of his project was a huge success. He designed a system that will be able to detect whether a ship’s hatch is closed without actually touching it. They like it so much, they’re going to incorporate it on lots of Navy ships. That is way cool! I’m so proud of my sweetie!
I got tapped to do a briefing on Friday, going back to what I was doing 2 projects ago. I happen to be the resident expert, so whenever questions come up, I get tracked down. Which is cool, because it happens to be something I’m really interested in. Anyway, I did some research, put together some slides (I’m a PowerPoint Ranger!!!) and sent it off to the guy who organized the meeting. He seemed pleased. I won me some brownie points. Yay! Here’s hoping I don’t screw up the brief.
Tomorrow is going to be a pretty much nothing day. From 8-12, we’ll have a team of unclassified technicians in our office installing some sort of audio-video system. That means we can’t have any classified stuff out. Which pretty much means we can’t work. So we’re having an off-site team-building event - we’re going to the bowling alley on base, then having a cookout. Cool. Really cool. Tomorrow’s highs are supposed to be in the 50s. yeah.
Plus I have to leave around noon because the furnace guy is supposed to get here between 1 and 5. I figure while he’s here, I can be organizing my studio.
That’s pretty much all the excitement here. Hugs and kisses all around!
Going out for Vietnamese for din-din. I’ve got a tickle in my throat that feels like it might be a case of Teh Sick coming on, and I’m praying the pho will ward it off… the last thing I want is to get sick just before my first real trip in nearly 2 years.
Speaking of snow - according to the Farmer’s Almanac, winter in the Mid-Atlantic is supposed to be colder and snowier this year. Swell.
Special1 AT&T is a GSM provider and damn proud of it. Well, to hear the AT&T honchos they are.
This mornin’ when I got to work and went to sit down at my puter station, I saw a fortune layin’ on the keyboard…
You will receive an unexpected payment.
[obligatory <snerk>] <snerk> IN BED! <snerk> [/obligatory <snerk>
The trainer and I got a good laugh out of it. We were the only ones in the training room at the time. When I went to break a couple hours later, I went outside cause the weather is just wunnerful right now. So, I walk out and I’m standin’ there talkin’ with some folks. I looked down and found a dollah layin’ on the ground. Nobody there said it was theirs and they were there before me. Thus, I received an unexpected payment! To celebrate, I bought a pack of cookies at lunch with my unexpected dollah.
Just thought I’d share that.
you were supposed to share the cookies!
my “thing”* is flaring up and I feel awful. I am going to bed.

I’m awake from my attempted nap. I don’t think I slept very much, but apparently it was enough for awhile since I’m awake again.
Hi Noonie!
Where’s Smarty??
I am sorely tempted my Dear, but I fear that I must decline your kind and munificent offer, as Wifey absolutely forbids me to lurk under young ladies desks. I don’t know why. But thank you for thinking of me.
Oh, we’re going out to dinner at some function or other, I forget what, but I think it has to do with the new cultural center they’re trying to raise money, and support, and money, for. Ha! little do they know, we don’t have any money.
Today I made a workbench top for a friend and then mowed the lawn. I think I may take a short nap before I hafta dress up.
That’s all I’ve got.
I don’t really understand how you can refuse Muppet’s deal, Bumba. It sounds highly advantageous.
::Waves at SO:: Long time, no see.
I was wondering about Smartie, too.
Yay on the thesis milestone, Spaz!!!
Hugs for everyone who’s disappointed, sad, under the weather and otherwise not doing so well. And for everyone else, too.
That sounds like a cool design, FCM. Sounds like your pride in FCD is justified.
I went out after work to find a card for my old boss’s thank you party. My friend needed to find some shoes as well. Is anyone surprised that I found cute little rubber boots and bought them? They were on sale! And cute. And appropriate for the rain I’ll be working in on Saturday (well, it’s forecast; I suppose it could still decide to be dry). And then, to top off the extravaganza, we went to Johnny Rockets for din-din.
Now I’ma go read or watch a movie or somatt.
Back later…
GT
Ok, so I love multiquote.
Thanks for the hugs- I can always use them! And hugs back to everyone else who needs them. And we can all use a few, now and again…
I find that very cool. I’m such a techno-junkie!
I like AT&3, even if I’m in the minority here…
As for me, it’s not a big problem, it’s just that I do not do waiting for something I want very well. Something very important to me fell through for tomorrow and had to be rescheduled until next week. Not a big deal to wait a few more days, but I wanted it dealt with now.
How’s that for esoteric and obscure?
Spaz- having been through thesis hell myself- congrats and keep pushing. Soon, baby, soon!
Oh, I want snow, too.
AT&3 sounds good - I was gonna say just 3, but then I’d think of peanut butter* every time I typed it
*many MANY years ago at a party, I was talking with a cute guy who told me I’d always remember him, if not his name, because he was going to inexorably link two unrelated words in my brain - he then said
“peanut butter, three, peanut butter, three, peanut butter, three”
and damned if he wasn’t right. 32 years later, I still automatically think one when I hear the other
and oh yeah, llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
 I think BioRosie choked on a cookie! Or else she’s become Pentecostal and now speaks in tongues.
I’ve been productive. I cleaned the kitchen and my bathroom. Go Me!
FTR, I did share my package of cookies with the folks at my lunch table. I figure sharin’ my good fortune ought to earn a few karma points.
I usually take a cold shower.
