My workplace had special things everywhere for valentine’s day. Everyone was meant to wear red clothes and bring in red food to eat.
Everyone was wishing each other ‘Happy valentine’s day!’ I have never seen that apart from couples saying it to each other.
That sounds new. I hope it doesn’t spread (but it probably will.)
We did stuff like that in my 3rd grade classes in the early 90s. There’s no official recognition of Valentine’s Day at my work, although the resident Ms. Cheery bought up a bunch of those little palm-sized de-sexed Valentine’s cards and put them in each person’s box with her name and the recipient’s name.
She’s rather cute, and rather close to my age. Imagine the naughty anticipation I felt when I found a Valentine’s card from her in my inbox, the confusion I felt when I opened it up to discover a picture of a Care Bear with some short, loveless, sexless proclamation like “Have a Great Day”, and the quiet but steady WHOOOOOOSH of a deflating balloon when I noticed every box had one of those cards in it.
