When does a boy become a man?

That’s actually exactly what I was thinking about, and hadn’t quite articulated fully yet.

It occurred to me that there was a point in my mid-20s when I switched from being someone who was told what I should do, or at least got a lot of advice on possible choices, to someone who was consulted in similar situations about things, and whose experience and opinion was valued.

I also think that a lot of this stems directly from having proven your worth in terms of responsibility and good decision making, which is the “responsibility” that they’ve been talking about in earlier posts.

This realization can arrive pretty early for the guy who stands to inherit a pile of money.
