When does a kiss merit 1-4 years in jail? (Spanish soccer)

I looked up a picture of the animal and it is beautiful! Similar to a bobcat.

When I was growing up there was a house up the street that had a cat that was half domestic cat and half bobcat. Summer nights, when windows would be open, you could hear it yowling sometimes.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the explanation!

Half-spanish, half-German, to be precise. More details about the name in this other thread next door and the following posts.

Bobcats are also in the Lynx genus, Lynx rufus.

This is very commonly claimed but I am not aware of any scientifically verified proof that the domestic cat Felis catus can interbreed with any member of the Lynx genus.

I certainly believe that you had neighbors who told everyone that their big, wild looking cats were bobcat hybrids; I am dubious as to how accurate their claim was.

I only saw it once, although I did hear it at night as I mentioned. It did have a short, stubby tail, and side whiskers that weren’t as long as a purebred bobcat. Of course this is anecdotal now, the animal has been gone for fifty years.

“una de las dos españas ha de helarte el corazón”
(“one of the two Spains is going to freeze your heart”)
A 1912(!) poem by Antonio Machado, still relevant.

This article is over one year old, but shows that the problem is not limited to macho-Spain, that the female players have suffered systematic discrimination, abuse and mental trauma for years and years, that they were not taken seriously and that they are not unduly profiting from made up allegations, cashing in after complaining because some political party (Podemos, in Spain, was claimed, other people of questionable faith in other countries will invent other straw men to blame) pushed them to exagerate their private problems (see hysteria for more details) for political gain (gift link, I hope it works, even if the pre-view is not).

Yes, @sailor, looking at you.

I knew you would know what I was refering to. Sad that it is still relevant and pertinent.

Curiously, just this morning while shoveling snow, I spoke with a neighbor 2 doors down who said he had seen a bobcat in his backyard the previous week.

We are in a residential area of Dupage County, just west of Chicago. Plenty of fox, coyotes, skunks, etc, but had never heard of a local bobcat siting before!

Joan Manuel Serrat’s songs were an important part of my early education, as is good and proper.

It sounds like a Manx cat! Very bobcat-looking creatures, and the few I’ve known have been pretty talkative.

This is no longer about the kiss, but about plain and simple corruption: 40 million €uro or so for celebrating (sic!) the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia. Rubiales was not arrested because he is in the Dominican Republic since february, where he might have establiched permanent residency or not. Time will tell. But the headquarters of the Spanish Football Federation and his home in Granada were raided by the police, carrying out a lot of documents.

Gerard Piqué, former Barça player, former world champion and former husband of Shakira is in trouble too, he got 16 million €uro from that deal (4 million for each of the four years, it is claimed).
Several other people at the federation have been arrested too.

Many of us here are not fluent in Spanish, for English language articles:

I don’t think this has been posted before in this thread?

Seems to be a direct answer to the question in the OP, at least from the prosecutor’s perspective:

Luis Rubiales, the former president of the Spanish Football Federation, was found guilty of sexual assault for forcibly kissing star soccer player Jenni Hermoso at the 2023 World Cup Final.

On Thursday, Feb. 19, a Spanish court issued the ruling, fining Rubiales 10,800 euros (approximately $11,292 USD), but clearing him on a charge of coercion that stemmed from the same incident, according to multiple outlets.

Not unreasonable. Many will be unhappy, of course.

Both the prosecution and the defendant have appealed. And the comments are just like you would expect.

@Pardel-Lux - I don’t think that link goes where you meant it to.

Indeed, it does not, seems like a kind of live feed: the page changes regularly. Sorry, it is difficult to find a link in English, please believe me, both sides have appealed the verdict. It is not a conntroversial claim, after all.
