Today, actually, about an hour ago.
There’s a wonderful hotdog stand here, that opened just over a year ago. Hopefully it stays open forever, it’s the only dedicated hot dog place in town.

We had chili dogs a couple of weeks ago…but normally, I like then with cheese and ketchup.
Chili dog at Portillo’s last Sunday.
ETA: OK, actually two chili dogs…
My apartment building had a resident BBQ last week, so I had one hot dog as well as some BBQ chicken.
Please tell me that Portillo’s hasn’t expanded to Phoenix as well.
It’s been years. Can’t really guess how long ago. At least 10, I think. Maybe. Even then it would have been a turkey dog or some such. If it was a pork-anus dog I wouldn’t have touched it.
Just completely horrible “food”.
Both hot dogs and buns come in packages of eight, so there’s no mis-match.
That’s my answer. I’ve eaten those vegan fake-outs as you call them, although I haven’t eaten one of those in years either. But an actual hot dog, I haven’t eaten one of those in easily over 10 years, but I have eaten one before.
I don’t eat hot dogs very often, but I did have a kraut dog a couple of weeks ago at a local Casper’s.
I hardly ever eat hot dogs. There have been times I’ve gone for years without eating one. But as it happens I did eat one around three weeks ago (I was out with my father and he decided he’d like a hot dog for lunch). So I voted for within the past month but that’s not characteristic of my usual habits. If you had posted this poll a month ago, my answer would have been within the past ten years.
I actually made hot dog soup one day last week. It wasn’t as bad as it sounds.
One in Scottsdale, one in Tempe (that I know of). Very popular. I usually get the combo sausage and Italian beef, but sometimes a hot dog. Haven’t tried a chocolate cake shake yet.
ETA: Lots of Midwesterners here, especially in the winter. Half my neighbors are snowbirds from Illinois/Minnesota/Canada…
Well, they’re in Arizona. I wonder if the quality keeps up or if it’s like Uno’s where the out-of-state franchised locations are a shadow of the original. Anyone who has had both Chicago area and far-flung Portillo’s able to chime in?
As for hot dogs, the butcher shop near my work makes them and sells them fresh outside the store during the summer. Delicious. The downside is that my younger one will only eat their hot dogs now and doesn’t care for any of the store-brand ones, even Vienna or the kosher dogs. If I say I bought hot dogs, he just asks “You mean the good ones?”
Your kid has good taste. There is a local German deli that stocks some amazing sausages. Whenever we are there for lunch, we stock up on brats and wieners for the freezer. Light years better than Oscar Meyer or Bar S.
My kids plays a lot of baseball. That means a lot of hot dogs are consumed.
Had one last week for lunch. It was heated in a skillet, put on a bun, dosed with a fiery picante sauce and a healthy forkful of sauerkraut.
Last month I visited Frankfurt so of course I had to have a Frankfurter so my answer was this month but before that I hadn’t had one in about a year because I try to eat healthy.
Where I live, they come in packs of five (jumbo) and ten (regular). The buns are still in bags of eight, though.
Two days ago.
And I added the extra poll option, since I happened to see the request. But it’s perfectly fine to report a post for that sort of thing: I can’t read every thread.
I had a couple Chicago dogs at a Cubs game in late May.
