As a kid my favorite cereal was Frankenberry. My mom was down on sugared cereal so I always had to wait for a special occasion or trick an unsuspecting grandparent into buying it for me. By the time I was old enough to get it myself, it had trickled off the market and was only carried in certain stores, then I couldn’t find it at all.
Well last night I was in Target and for some reason I was drawn to the massive-bag-of-Halloween-candy aisle. As I rounded the corner there was an endcap display of ALL the “monster” cereals! FrankenBerry, BlueBerry and CountChocula! (No FruitBrute or YummyMummy, but you can’t have everything, right?) I grabbed a box in shock and did a little dance before throwing it in the cart and starting to walk away. Then I stopped and decided “Why just one?” Five more boxes went into the cart. I’ll probably go back and get more, I mean…what if they only have it once a year? What if they never have it AGAIN???
Oh yeah, I bought two big-ass bags of candy too. I’m a grown-up and you can’t stop me! BWAHAHAHAHAHA! I may even have Frankenberry for LUNCH!!! AHHHHH!!! ::maniacal laughter::
holding hands up in full view, speaking in her best non-threatening voice
Okay…okay. Just put the cereal down…that’s it. Good. You’re doing great. Now…take a deep breath…set the candy beside it…Nonono…it’s okay. No one is going to take it away from you. We’re just going to set it down and take a step back. That’s right. What you’re experiencing is a SUGAR RUSH. It’ll pass in a few moments and everything will be fine.
(and then you go at it again! Can I have a bowl? Please?)
Oh, I hear ya!! I did the same thing when I found Boo-Berry in our local store. I actually shouted right out loud!!
Another great time to be an adult? Well, at the end of October I’m going to a much anticipated concert. It’s offered at two different venues and I’m having trouble deciding which one to go to. Know what I picked?
BOTH! I’m going twice. In the same week. And NO ONE CAN STOP ME!! BWWWWWAAHAAAAAA!!!
I would just like to state for the record that I have met voguevixen and I’m not at all sure she qualifies as a “grown-up”. As in, “I have to grow older but I don’t have to grow up!”
Apparently the jury is still out on Zette as well.
FWIW, the last time I went shopping I didn’t see Count Chocula or Boo Berry but Kellogg’s was offering “Frightening” Froot Loops and other Halloween variations on their sugar-laden cereals.
I was colouring on the walls with crayon (YES! YES! YES!)
and he is sprawled in the couch, eating two Flavorices.
(you know- FLAVOR-ICE… the frozen popsicle stuff in a little bag that you have to squeeze out?)
He says “I’m living out a childhood fantasy.”
It took me a minute to figure out what he was talking about.
Then it hit me.
I’ve never been a fan of CountChocula. I haven’t tried the others.
I’ve always prefered Crunch Berries. They’re like Cap’n Crunch, but more rounded. This is a good thing, because, as we all know, Cap’n Crunch is to the roof of your mouth as Skittles are to your cheeks.
Oh man, Flav-r-ice (As I think it’s called) kicks ass too…but not as much as Otter Pops, which are named after wacky characters (Louie Blue Raspberry, et al.)
Black Knight…did you know that Cap 'n Crunch now makes a cereal called “Oops! All Berries!” that is essentially a box of Cap 'n Crunch Crunchberries flavor with NO Cap 'n Crunch in the way?
