When the plague is over in the MMP

My faves-- the ones I can’t buy because I can’t be left alone with them. If I had some, I’d keep them in the fridge so the icing doesn’t melt-- it’s predicted to be 105 here today. I call them “Iced Animal Crackers,” which is not what Mother calls them. So sue me.

Upon reflection, maybe Cashew Fudge would suit me better. I don’t exactly understand how nicknames fit in, but I’m game.

All of us MMP’ers are known by our nicknames, normally playing off our Screen names. And no, you’re not allowed to pick your own, the ‘regulars’ decide on it (OTOH, once you’re named, your a ‘regular’, so you’ll have a vote on the next soul).

Hmmmm…only Thelma Lou I know is Barney Fife’s girlfriend on the Andy Griffin Show (for you young’ns, that’s a TV show from the 60-70’s that starred…wait for it…Andy Griffin)

So I propose Barney’s GF, but several others here are more skilled than I at this game, so we’ll see.

Lunch has been procured and stomach-filling is underway. All y’all take care.

At the very moment COVID is declared dead, even before “Taps” is played, we’ll be in the car headed to AZ!

I want my own house, with my own stuff, and dammit, I want my own bed!

We will FINALLY get the wheels in motion towards putting in a new floor. We’ve had a few soft spots, and they’re not getting any smaller. And I never want to see wall-to-wall carpet ever again!

Welcome! You do bite their little heads off first, don’t you? That’s the only proper way to eat them!

To answer the original MMP question – I want all of my beloved amusement parks to survive this and return to normal! There are new coasters out there that I must ride. I was at two favorite parks this past week (Knoebels and Waldameer) and, while I enjoyed them and was glad to support them, the experience just wasn’t wasn’t what it should be. I also want to go back to eating in a restaurant, at a table, like the civilized person I pretend to be.

We’re just looking for a return to financial stability. PWAISDN is in a weird situation where he’d make more money closing the salon and taking PUA unemployment, at least for as long as that “CARES” bump exists. The system just isn’t built to comprehend self-employed people who have significant employment-related expenses like station rent, or variable piece rate pay making a simple hourly wage calculation impossible - in one hour, does he do two simple $30 cuts, or one $150 highlight?

And then being able to go out and see friends again would be just spiffy.

Actually, the way it works is you can’t choose your nickname here - someone has to give you one. And it doesn’t necessarily have to be logical. Don’t worry - you’ll get yours!!! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Just back from Food Lion and the Amish market. Supper will be anchored by chicken, and at least one side will be the broccoli crowns I just bought. Still debating between spuds and crescent rolls…

Don’t know it I’ll make it to the dog park this afternoon or not. It’s been raining hard.
The dogs are bugging me though.

Got my groceries ordered, got some other paper irk done
Still have more to do. I had to take some pictures and for whatever reason I can’t send them through email to my computer so I can send them to the company.
Haven’t looked at taxes because it makes my head hurt.

The rain stopped and the sun is out, so we can try the park.
I never let rain stop me in the morning, but I consider afternoons optional.

UGH! Governor Newsom has rolled back just about everything to nearly as locked down as we were in mid-March. PWAISDN is out of work again with a weird bit of wiggle room if he wants to do haircuts only in the parking lot.

I’m a hermit by nature so I’m okay in that regard, but Wifey is a serious extrovert, so we’ll be going out and about more. It will be nice to have a nice sitdown at the good Thai restaurant and the good Mexican restaurant, to name a couple. I’ve learned that I don’t have to go to the store every day for stuff I forgot. Now I make more careful lists and get everything the first time. I’d like to continue that trend.
Our insurance pays for memberships at the indoor pool that has a nice new gym attached. We’ll be going there again. That’ll be good. Wifey loves to swim and I like the less wet activities. I like to swim, but since I can’t really point my toes anymore, I tend not to go very far. :slightly_frowning_face:

Well, Barney’s GF’s specialty was cashew fudge, but y’all do the nickname thing however it’s 'pposed to be done.

Just wanted to make sure you all knew there’s a campaign to raise money to donate a tuba to a school in memory of @TubaDiva here. Also the Chicago Sun Times obituary is linked.

Howdy Y’all! Stuff got done today. We spiffed da cave, both of us got shorn, and I got the earl changed in twuck. I stayed in twuck the whole time, then handed ‘em my credit card to pay and was handed a little sticker to put on my windshield tellin’ me when the earl is due to be changed again. Oh, and they did give me back my credit card. We have supped and now I await the dreaded Vestry meetin’ at six o’ clock.

Well, since Barney called Thelma Lou “Thel” a lot, I propose “Thel.” Hey, if it was good enough for Barney Fife! :policeman:

How much do tubas cost?

I second swampy’s suggestion of Thel, as he probably has watched more of the show than I have…

Life is still good, but need to redress and get outside for a bit here shortly.

gotti, know it’s for the best, but I know that not knowing things can be tough…I think I said that right… Anyway, best of luck to you and PWAISDN

A good afternoon everyone.

Home from the park. No more rain but is hot and humid.
More than a few people there, which is kind of unusual in the afternoon.
Some woman came in, her dog came down by the pavilion and took a huge dump. One of the guys pointed it out to her and she just ignored it and went on her merry way.
I didn’t say anything, although I was tempted.

I did call the police on somebody else though.
There’s an asshole who lives up in the hill next to the dog park and he drives golf balls into the park. Usually he does it at night (we think) because quite often the park is littered with golf balls in the morning. Somebody’s dog swallowed one and needed emergancy surgery to remove the ball. Another guy was walking his dog on the trail next to the park one night and almost got hit by one. Well, today the asshole was driving them into the park while we were there and one woman had one whiz right past her head. I didn’t talk to the police as one of the men there was leaving when the police pulled up, He handed the cop a handful of golf balls and they talked. I guess I’ll find out what was said tomorrow morning when I see him.

Oh, and I guess it’s getting back to normal around here. The parking meters have been uncovered and there are sign saying you have to feed the meters starting August 3rd. I saw school busses out and about this morning, and a student? driving a driver’s ed car this evening.

Probably get a haircut. I contracted the virus, so when I’m no longer considered infectious, I’m not too worried about getting it again. Of course, I’ll continue to wear a mask and practice social distancing. So little is known about this virus yet. So I don’t want to be responsible for spreading it if is still possible to do so.

Howdy. It was a short sort today, almost everybody was done and sent home by 0600, and I was out if there by 0730. Kinda weird walking around the warehouse when it’s empty, turn out 3/4 of the lights, and play some Norweigen Death metal, and it would be a good Doom level. :japanese_ogre:
What I was is a hockey tailgate, followed by a hockey game.

And welcome Thel, SanVito, Trinary, and Fretful_Porpentine(Spike?)
