Just to ask, how long do y’all expect to wait for these moments?
flytrap, the difference in prices is the difference between student quality and orchestral quality. Same goes for other instruments.
The studio is cleaned up and ready for the next project. Tomorrow, I’ll do a load of throw rugs and a load of the tee shirts to send to Sis, the usual Tuesday chores and take a friend to the eye doctor. Once home, it will be chickpea curry and Indian fried cabbage for supper (to quote swampym “fart fest to follow” ). Good thing I’m off irk for the rest of the week.
Am I being overly neurotic worrying about supply issues such as we had in March?
nettie, wondering the same thing (we’ve gone from 400 to 2400 cases in about 8-10 days). So far stockage levels looks good at the stores near me, but I might pickup an extra 16-pack of TP this week.
Kiwi, would love to visit your Islands again, but being American I guess that needs to wait…
swampy, hope you can safely re-open on time. I trust you and the rest of the folks to do the right things.
nellie, hope that nightmare is gone and you see the kids soon.
Cats, but I bet you can whistle the theme song…
Did drive around a little bit this evening, but the temperature is still in the mid-80’s so I chickened out and did do any walking. The newest gym to me was jammed-packed, so that may not be a good idea either.
Take care all.
I honestly don’t know when this will be over. I hope it’s sooner rather than later. I don’t have as much time left as some folks. OTOH, I simply can’t say, “Yay, phase 3!” and head off to a restaurant. Them’s doctor’s orders. And I know I’m not alone in this. I’m furious that this whole thing got politicized and that some people refuse to do what’s right. For those who say those of us at higher risk should, “Stay the f— home,” so everyone else can go about their merry way, I say, "YOU try living in solitary confinement for fourth months and see how you like it. " This is hell, but I’m supposed to stay home all by myself so a whole bunch of people who refuse to recognize their own risk can carouse and spread the virus, which means I have to stay home even longer. Hmph.
OK, done ranting.
swampy, I was going to guess you were in human services. I would have guessed OYNW was, too, but close enough.
PWAISDN is thinking up ways how he can do hair outside, but for as long as the PUA benefits are available, I think he should just fuggedaboutit and make more money by not working.
My back says the same. I think the spine doc I saw last week just didn’t want any new patients as he pretty much blew me off saying I have arthritis and to go back to my GP. He looked at the old incisions from the fusion, but I don’t recall that he actually touched me. I have screws, and plates, and pins, and other unnatural things in my spine. Of course I have arthritis. But what else is wrong?
My GP is on the board of directors for the PPO, so you an be assured that I will be griping about this guy.
Cancel that. PWAISDN just sent me a screen clip indicating that hair and beauty services must be conducted in a licensed establishment. So no parking lot perms.
Now if I could just cancel the pain so easily.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 93 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I have an appointment with my doc and the vampires at eight-fifteen this mornin’. Laundry is also on today’s agenda. I took two ribeye steaks outta da freezer last night. Sup shall be steak, garlic smashed N.O.T., sallit, and rolls. Easy enough and will satisfy my gnawin’ and cravin’ for steak.
gotti I second the idea that while PUA benefits are available PWAISDN should fuggedaboutit. Spine doc sounds like an idiot.
nellie I do hope that you can go out and do stuff you want to do soonest. OYKW and I joke that we hardly know the difference, but stuff like consciously goin’ out only for essentials is real. Be nice to get back to a time when we don’t need to think, “do I really need to go out and do this” before venturin’ out and about.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, woe of woe, bother of bothers, alas and alack, I suppose I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Life is such a challenge!
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
Morning- the big excitement of the week- taking the recycling out- has been accomplished!
I plan to head into town to go to the pharmacy again later, hopefully my prescription has been sent to the better one now. Dunno why I picked the high street one in the first place, I’ve never had good experience there, I guess I thought because it’s bigger they’d have more stock, but they always seem to have to order everything I need in, so I have to visit twice.
It’s cloudy and a bit gloomy today, but I don’t think we’re going to have more than a sprinkle of rain, so I might head out on a walk later if I can stand the thrill.
Certainly not before the end of the year… unless someone figures out a vaccine sooner. Once there’s a shot in the arm that’ll stop the plague, I’ll be in line to get it and resume life. Even if it is like the once-a-year-flu shot, I’ll do it. I suppose at this point, no one is sure if it’ll mutate or what.
Meanwhile, I slept with Mel, so I mostly slept. There was brief wakeage around midnight (stoopit bladder) when I heard copious amounts of water falling from the sky, but I fell back to sleep and didn’t get up till 6-ish.
Today, Daughter may have to have her old kitteh put down. She rescued Cleo when she was a college freshman in 2004. But in recent months, the old girl has gotten really thin and, frankly, she’s just not right. The vet will look her over and see if there’s something simple that can be done or if it’s her time.
Roxy is “singing” Baby Shark with all the hand motions - she’s hilarious! … Correction - she’s now singing Rain Rain Go Away! I swear, everyone should get to hang with a toddler - they’re endless entertainment, till they get tired and cranky.
Well, onward into the day. Happy Tuesday!
sari - this made me think of you
The cats have decided right now is a great time to have a fight. I know five cats that are about to get locked out of upstairs for the day.
I have a dentist appointment this afternoon. That ought to be interesting.
Afternoon, mumpers! I am tempting fate with the weather gods by putting some laundry outside to dry. It’s a bit grey and gloomy but also warm-ish so it’ll either get dry or get a soaking. Either way, it’s out there to stay.
Work has gone a little bit quiet today, we’re launching M365 this month and I’ve been in a pilot project for it, we’re doing some testing and stuff now which has been working out well so I’m hopeful that we will not run into too many issues with it (apart from our team technophobes who will be horrified at having to use something new and different).
The cats are both asleep having had a spat this morning, then gone off to their favourite snooze spots, one’s on the bed now and the other is in a box so nothing new there. I have a couple of family/friends birthdays coming up so I am going to hunt down some online card delivery things as I haven’t got a suitable card in the house.
Our Bumbling Buffoon in Downing Street has now decided face coverings will be compulsory in shops from 24th July (no idea why he’s leaving it so late) so that is bound to cause a riot on farcebook as we are not short of people who think it’s wrong, not up to him, not enforceable, and generally “not going to do it”. They deserve a sharp stick in the eye, or perhaps a slap in the face with a wet fish.
At Daughter’s suggestion, I downloaded an app to track my walk - turns out I don’t need a data plan to use it since it takes GPS info. But for some reason, the track it returned looks like it was made by a drunken sailor during an earthquake trying to avoid a swarm of bees!! Still, the distance and walking speed calculations matched what I believe I was doing, so yay for that!
Now I’m trying to get it to link to the associated app that tracks my food intake. I started a GQ thread hoping someone could help. And in case you’re wondering: 1.8 miles at about 3MPH. Huzzah!
I can’t tell if y’all are imitating the U.S. or if we’re following the lead of our former colonial overlords, but - as the kids these days say - girl, same.
Not to mention, the complainers are slipping masks on for the duration of their shopping trip, but whining to/shouting at the people wearing them for entire multi-hour shifts, sometimes outside in the summer sun.
Bah!
Sorry, forgot where I was.
I know what day it is, though! So I know when I am, just not where I am.
[surreptitiously checks phone to confirm date]
Are you playing Doom on a PC now?
Morning all. Have cereal but no milk so ate bacon sammiches instead (which I have no problem with) to break fast. Shopping later this morning. 80F already and headed over 90F again. Oh joy.
Shoe, your reference indicates Heisenburg’s uncertainty principle, but I think I am missing something…please explain, if you get the chance.
cats, boo fae, apparently catfights are a Monday thing…take care.
FCM, my brother got me a Fitbit a couple years ago for Xmas…like most of the devices he’s bought me, it’s sat around and collected dust. But I really should start getting out more.
Nut, thanks for the reminder, my recycle pickup is the Thorsday, so I need to remember that.
OK, fast has been broken and I’ll be off to Kroger here in a bit; all y’all take care.
Judging by the weather radar thingy I use, you’re probably in for an extra rinse.
Trip to the pharmacy achieved, dodging round oblivious street hogs. This place not only had no queue, but the -masked- nice lady had my prescription ready before I’d even had the chance to peruse the allergy meds. Much better.
And yes, already seeing all the Facebook ‘but, but, the CO2!’ eejits. I mean, where they think the CO2 is being trapped on a mask that’s touching your face I don’t know. Same people then sometimes go on to claim that a cloth mask won’t stop the virus anyway- apparently believing that a carbon dioxide molecule is bigger than a virus…
Anyway, as I think I’m going to dodge the big cloud coming in, I think I’ll head out for walkies, somewhere away from the eejits.
Good morning, y’all. Just got back from my walk. Gots to do it early when it’s still under 80, as this afternoon, it’s going to be 105. We’re breaking heat records. I used to be a happy mall walker–summer & winter perfectly controlled temperature, no bugs, no dogs, to traffic, no uneven sidewalks-- and a Starbucks at the end! Sadly that’s not an option now. Mall opens for walking at 10 am, but the stores open at 11, and there are just way too many people for me to feel comfortable. I used to walk there at 7:30 am–so empty and peaceful. Like walking in a space station (I imagine).
@missred, I’d like to know about that recipe. I love cabbage and I live alone, so no downside.
Howdy Y’all! Back from the doc and vampire. Actually been back for a bit, but had to get comfy and all first. One must have priorities! Laundry continues to launder. All is well.
