When will these $%@#! mosquitoes die? I'm still getting bit and it's October!

Well? What’s the magic day?

Funny, I thought of that today too when I saw a few, though the ones still hanging around seem lot slower, smaller, and less aggressive. We get some here in Memphis in the middle of summer that are as fast as house flies, can evade most of my swats by moving at the last second, and sneak into open doors and wait for days if needed until the opportune time to attack, they drive me crazy!

It did drop into the 60s here for a day or two and I saw a dramatic decrease, but today it was back into the 80s and a few mosquitoes were back up and about (but like I said, smaller and less aggressive). I’ll guess that it needs to be below 60 degrees for at least a week before we no longer see the mosquitoes.

I’ve been chewed a couple of times this week too and Kid, the Younger has two bites as well. We haven’t had anything like frost yet, of course. It rained for about three weeks steady, from August 20 on, but now we’re back to sunshine.

I once went home for leave at Christmas. When I hit the Minneapolis airport it was -26F with a -80somethingF windchill. I got bit by a mosquito that night.
