when you popped down that cherry tree....

I know there are quite a few threads concerning when various Dopers lost “it”, were “deflowered”, “popped their cherry”, or, more bluntly, had sex for the first time.

I was thinking about my main group of friends in highschool and how [I’m pretty sure] most of us were virgins till at least Junior year. There were a few people who I figured must have had sex by the time we graduated and there were people I was absolutely sure would have sex before I would.

Naturally, things did not turn out quite the way I had predicted. One friend, AFAIK, still hasn’t for various reasons, the most prominent being the health risks [STDs, pregnancy]. Some others, I just don’t know because we’ve lost touch, I just assume. My theory consists of “maybe she wasn’t as ‘adventurous’ as she seemed, or just not about certain things…” because I swear since she actually dated during hs, she would be farther along in the process that leads to sex.

Anyway… when you think about it, are you surprised by the order in which you and your friends “got popped”? I mean, was there that person you swear had a greater endowment of “attractiveness” or nerve [qualities that naturally lead to sex] and they still haven’t, or that guy who you thought was so introverted, or prudish, or fervently religiously against premarital sex that there was no way on earth he would get laid before you [if ever]?

[sub]the things I think about while driving 90 miles by myself…

Not surprised at all. My best friend, Rachel, was first. We all knew she would be first. Not too long after that, was me. And the third musketeer, as we call her, is yet to be. This follows our relative adventurous personalities, and how comfortable we each are with sex, as well as our involvement in serious relationships. Rachel treats sex as a very personal and very romantic thing, while I don’t as much, and the third is very very uptight about anything regarding sex. In short, not surprised at all, and we even talked about it before any of us were involved, and it turned out exactly as predicted. We just know eachother too well.
