Whence this silly motto of Gatineau, Quebec?

According to Wikipedia and a myriad of pages that seem to be copied from the same, the motto of Gatineau is Ursus super montem ivit (“The bear went over the mountain”). Is this somebody’s idea of a joke, or is that Gatineau’s real motto? If it’s real, whose bright idea was it?

Somebody’s screwing around. The motto is (or was) Fortunae meae, multorum faber which has something to do with woodworking, I think.

It looks like the fake motto was added by an anonymous user in December 2005 and has been propagating across the internet on Wikipedia-based pages since then. Sheesh. I’ve fixed it on the main page, but… pretty lame.
