Where are my sunglasses?

I generally buy mid-priced sunglasses, say in the $50-$100 range, for reasons along those lines.

If I had a pair of $200+ Ray Bans, I’d constantly be worried about losing them.

The sub $20 WalMart sunglasses get scratched or broken too easily.

But a $50 pair will be reasonably decent quality, but not so expensive that I’d be too upset if I lost them.

I’ve had my rose lens Maui Jim Typhoons (discontinued in 2011) for a little over a decade–I sent them in for repair and got the last pair from the factory according to the rep who sent them to me. There’s no way I’d pay the going rate on eBay (around $400) to buy another pair so I’m taking the best care of them that I can.

I have a backup pair of Ray Bans with rose lenses, but those are discontinued too. There are much cheaper sunglasses on the market with “rose” lenses but the ones I’ve tried have pretty lousy optics and just aren’t comfortable to wear for long days on the road or on the trail.

I almost lost my favorite tiny tote bag like this. I remembered picking it up when I left, and I was also holding a trash bag in the same hand. I try to throw my trash further back in the dumpster because my stupid neighbors pile all of their trash right inside the opening so it’s not really full but you can’t get more trash in. So it was well inside the dumpster. I got the tote bag back, but some of the things that were in it fell out. :slightly_frowning_face: I try to be more careful when I’m throwing things away now.

Those are nice! I like the cat-eye look. I have a photo of me in second or third grade with cat-eye glasses and a rainbow-colored poncho. It’s one of my favorite photos.

Next time, look in the ocean. My prescription Rayban Clubman sunglasses ended up in the Atlantic Ocean, so that narrowed down my search a bit. (Helpful Hint: don’t wear expensive glasses in the ocean when big waves are rolling and crashing into you).

I spent considerable time looking for my glasses in the ocean, to no avail. So, I put an ad in Lost & Found. Silly, you say? Well guess what, somebody found them. The good samaritan found them washed up on a beach ~10 miles north of where I lost them (apparently my sunglasses like to swim).

So, I arranged to meet up with the founder of my sunglasses at a local beach bar the following week. He handed over my glasses. I bought him a couple beers for his good deed.

A happy ending…or so I thought.

On the drive back from the bar, I put my newly-found sunglasses on. Everything was blurry beyond recognition. You guessed it. The good samaritan found a pair of prescription Rayban Clubman sunglasses washed up on the beach, but he didn’t find my pair of prescription Rayban Clubman sunglasses washed up on the beach. My happy ending turned into a tragedy of epic proportions.

Alas, my search continues, though my prescription Rayban Clubman sunglasses have now been missing for over a decade. The ocean is mighty big, so it may take more time.

No worries, they’ve been found.

I had a feeling Don Knotts had something to do with it.

According to my mom back in the day…they were in the last place I put them.

She was always so helpful, my mom. And no, she thought she was being helpful and wasn’t trying to be funny :).

The fact that many times they weren’t in the last place I put them would just bounce off her like a brick wall.
