Those are Emoji - Wikipedia. They’re growing like a weed. Both in popularity and in the number defined in Unicode.
Ref kopek, there may be a way to update the standard fonts on your machine to recognize the newly defined characters. If not, you’re going to see that “I have no symbol for this character” symbol for any of them.
