What other dimensions do you guys propose?
Crispy and Mangetout are right, this needs another dimension (at least)
FTR I am a 1 + 2i, or thereabouts
some individuals only are interested in same-sex relations in the presence of and with the participation of the opposite sex, i.e. threesomes and moresomes. This scale does not reflect polymorphous perversity.
I think one of my favorite quotes from the movie Hair is appropriate here (with a few minor adjustments):
The guy says (in response to psychiatric questioning), “Well, I wouldn’t kick Mick Jagger outta my bed, but I’m not a homosexual, no…”
So my adjustment (as a 1 on the scale) is, “Well, I wouldn’t kick Lauryn Hill outta my bed, but I’m not a homosexual, no…”
Or wait–make that “Well, I wouldn’t kick Homebrew outta my bed…”
It’s not a very flexible scale. I guess I even out at a 3. But catch me on two different days and I could be a 0 or a 6…
Although I do find I am far more picky about how another woman LOOKS rather than her intellect–switch that for men.
I suspect Io shall get married and pretend to be a 1

Right back at ya, babe …
2.8 . . . A bi chick who dates more men than women.
Two, leaning heavily toward a three. Though to prove a point in class one night I confessed to being a solid three.
I’m shocked at the number of 0s… I was always taught that it was an extremely small percentage of the population that fell into the two extremes, and that ones and fives were most common. Huh.
Well as a 0, I don’t know, I thought the same thing. I thought there was lots of experimentation in higher education. But after 9 years olf college it never occured to me to attempt anything with any of the men I hung around with.
But then as a leaning i (that’s eye, as I defined it on page 1) nothing happened either way in those 9 years. I imagine others would find my life extremely boring.

Strictly hetero without being phobic.
I guess a 1. There’s a girl at the Trader Joe’s who I think is really cute.
I’m probably around 2-2.5 theoretically…I say theoretically because even though I definitely dig chicks, I’ve only ever dated 2 people, both men. Since I’ve spent most of my college life with one guy, i’ve sorta eliminated the typical experimenting possibilities.
Also, for those of you who feel restricted by Kinsey, maybe try the Klein scale. There’s also a 2-D scale out there that accounts for people who really aren’t attracted to anybody of any sex, but I can’t seem to remember what it’s called.
Between 0 and 1.
I have never in my life heard a woman say “I’m a fag trapped in a woman’s body.” Why is this joke so popular with straight guys? If you are truly a lesbian in a man’s body, then you should identify as Transgendered and hie thee to some European country and get the surgery done. Then you can be a lesbian with the proper parts.
I, too, am befuddled.
Our sample here is self-selected, first because we all chose to register with the SDMB, and also because we chose to post a reply. There’s no reason to believe that it represents the general population.
Also, the distribution is probably skewed so that more 1’s and 2’s are found than any number–after all, the more heterosexual sex an individual has, the more of his/her descendents live on to breed. Whether 0’s should also be common is something I don’t know.
I don’t know exactly.
I consider myself entirely heterosexual
But I find this picture (for example) strangely and strongly attractive, although not in any kind of (conscious)sexual way, in fact not in any way that I can sensibly define.
I suppose all I’m saying is that sexuality isn’t a single index.
I guess I’d be a five. I have had relationships with men before, but I couldn’t imagine ever being with a man again, and although I can occasionally look at an attractive man and think ‘oh, he’s nice,’ (like, say, David Beckham), but I can look at an attractive woman and feel ‘ohh, she’s niiiice.’ And I’ve never loved a man like I loved a woman (even though she didn’t love me back, sob sob).
Only if homosexuality were heritable.

Sweet Judy Blue Eyes, put down the picket sign! Pardon me for indulging in a bit of (what seemed to me at the time) self-directed humor. It was not meant to derogatory to gays or lesbians. I meant it as a way of saying that I love women and have often compared notes with lesbians on what we both find appealing. One of them has even said (and my wife agrees) that I was probably a lesbian in a former life.

Somewhere around a 1. Exactly where depends on my mood at the time and the person in question. Usually a bit less than 1 though.
