It’s from the French, Les Dalles, meaning roughly the chutes or troughs, describing a narrow part of the river near here.

Hey, thanks, everyone, for your participation.
I was just looking at that map and it’s pretty messy. So, I just wanted to reassure you that, now that I have so many of you, I’ll be going back through and organizing all the names so I can start over and hopefully make this thing a little cleaner. At least I can prevent all the lines from intersecting each other! Also, I may make the map a little bigger, that way the locations can be more precise and the names won’t be so blurry. I’ll also try to find a map that shows the states in the US. Let’s call this one a rough draft for now. Some people have made other suggestions that I may look into, if it looks like something I can do such as mouseovers and obfus’ idea of image mapping or whatever.
Oh yeah, I’ll be correcting my piss poor spelling as well. Sorry to those whose names I mispelled! :eek:
