I got a pal with a medical issue and he’s looking to buy some men’s pants with extra wide lower legs to cope with this. Sadly, everywhere I look, I see men’s pants with straight leg cuts in styles ranging from “skinny” to “dweeb”. The relaxed fit jeans are either straightleg or have a slight taper. The boot cut jeans all start out slim cuts through the hips and thighs.
Actual bellbottoms seem to be relegated to costumes or one-off vintage pieces. But that’s the general shape he needs. He’s going to need these pants over the summer so he needs a few varieties. He can’t always wear shorts, so he needs some pants. Waist/inseam is 46/30-ish. He needs lower legs for sizes bigger than that, as if he were wearing two casts.
Is he in the USA? The Navy’s working uniform used to have bell bottomed dungarees that I guess could be found in military surplus stores. I’m not sure those will be wide enough.
Yeah, I think Levi’s Carpenter’s pants may be what you’re looking for… though I must admit my pair is at least 3 years old… so I’m not sure if they’re made anymore.
There is a fad of wearing women’s clothing. Especially young women’s clothing that do not have the wider hips. I have a teenage friend who freaked his mom out by wearing his sister’s pants. (To say she’s homophobic is an understatement).
