I’m having a difficult time locating sulfur ointment. It is still sold as a common over the counter medicine?

If push comes to shove, I imagine you could make some from powdered sulfur (which I have found readily available) and petroleum jelly.
I’m curious, what is this stuff good for and how does it work? A quick google search shows me that it is used to treat scabies (and it works, even if it’s stinky.)
It seems to be orderable from various places online. I’ve never noticed it in a store.
