You know the story. Boy meets girl, girl meets boy… Boy falls for girl, attempts to convince girl she likes him too… three years and seven scores later, girl falls for boy… convinces boy that he loves girl too… boy is confused (too many words beggining with “I” and “R”)… three days later they’re married. Or so the story goes.
How about yours? Where did you first meet that special someone with whom you have decided to spend (if not for the rest of your life then) a significant portion of your life with? Was it at-

(Oh, and gays and lesbians are free to share thier experiences too. In the scenario given above I only used boy-meets-girl 'cause I thought it would be too confusing to do it otherwise e.g. Boy meets boy…Girl meets girl…Boy falls for boy, and so do the girls for each other… then the Boys both get confused… then the girls propose etc.)
In COBOL class. That’s where all the geeks met back then. I wooed her by helping her with her programs in the computing lab. Who’s to say I’m not a hopeless romantic?
At a party in grad school. We only briefly chatted there, though (she had a boyfriend). I really got to know her because I happened to notice a newsgroup message a month later by someone looking for a copy of a recent ER episode, which I happened to still have. All very random. The someone was a friend of hers and after dropping off the tape, I stayed to watch the episode with the two of them. During a commercial, I mentioned a ballroom dance class I was going to be taking – she had taken classes in the past and was interested, so she signed up. Then we started going dancing together, and after a couple of months I finally suggested that she dump her long-distance boyfriend and date me instead. She did, and now we’re married. Go us!
Work. We both worked for Eastern Mountain Sports at two different locations. We met and got to know each other at a few parties that a lot of work people were at.
At a house party to celebrate her starting a job. I’d only met her a couple of times before that. We both had a little wine to drink. The party got a little wild. We ended up kissing on the couch, next day she emailed me at work and we met up a few days later. We were together for nearly a year, then broke up, but now we’re getting back together again.
We were in a play together, Pirandello’s Henry IV. I was playing one of his servants and he was the king.
We had to go around in a circle and talk about our character choices one night at rehearsal and I said my bold choice was that my character was secretly in love with the king.
The first time I ever went to a LARP. Being somewhat naive, I’d worn a shirt that exposed…ah…a bit too much. What was horrible was that, apparently, it was really obvious that I didn’t know how much I was showing.
My SO was the ST of the section that I was in. He ended the game early and came over to talk to me (apparently, as well, he’d been warding off a few of the more lecherous and sick gamers, though I didn’t find this out until later). Phone numbers and screen names were exchanged (I thought it was just so I could call him if I had a question. I mean, I was just hoping he didn’t HATE me!) He called the next day, we went out, and…well…y’know the rest :).
At rehearsal for an opera. The opera was staged by a local junior college, but all of the lead roles were hired professionals. He was the star. I was the wardrobe mistress.
At the Wild Wing Cafe in Charleston, SC. He went there to meet up with my sister, who he hadn’t seen in a while. She asked me to go with her. He chit-chatted with her for 5 minutes, and then talked to me for 4 hours.
The second time that I met up with him, it was in his mother’s front yard, after I drove from Charleston to Baltimore to see him.
