What I am saying is some of the black people that I work with are straight ghetto, or at least proclaim to be and I still enjoy hanging out with them after hours…even if I do laugh inside sometimes at their very stereo typical words and actions.

I think that maybe your politics hold more influence than you realize. You certainly did not mean that Sarah Palin’s political aspirations make her despicable and worthy of your hate, but Barak Obama would literally have to commit infantcide to garner your hate, right? Really?
That or a libertarian leaning Republican like I am. Though we differ on the matter of meat (thumbs up), SUVs (thumbs down), Sarah Palin (the woman’s an idiot), and I don’t consider liking black or Hispanic people particularly political.
Don’t like them? Good. Don’t have them. It’s not YOUR choice. Yes it’s bad that we live in such a crappy inequal society that women feel the need to have them…but fix the social problems that are causing them to choose abortions rather then demonizing abortions!
It’s unrealistic to blame all abortions on social factors and inequality.
100% agree, condoms are free and so is birth control if you are poor. It not that damn hard to remember to take a pill each day, hell you can even skip a day.
Meanwhile birth control education usually sucks, if it exists at all. We’ve had a million abortion debates and I don’t want to turn this thread into one because personally I don’t even disagree with AboutAsWeirdAsYouCanGet’s basic point.
I used to think they didn’t mean it literally either. Then we went thru a few elections on the SDMB.

So anyway, jshecky, how am I supposed to glean information about your political leanings from statements like “I love America”? Err, yes, what political affiliation does not? You have a friend who speaks Spanish? Who doesn’t? You don’t mind black people. Very good, but I’m having a hard time determining where you “fit in” from such ridiculous tidbits of information.
You still haven’t answered the question. Why do you think abortion is OK in some circumstances, but not others? Your criteria (rape, incest, mother’s health, contraceptive failure) have nothing to do with the viability of the fetus, but they have everything to do with the circumstances of the pregnancy.
Why is it important for a woman to be “honest” about why she got pregnant?
I’m not trying to turn this thread into a discussion about abortion. However, you asked us to tell you where you fit in, and I’m trying to get a sense of how you make decisions. From what you’ve told us, it sounds like you tolerate abortion in cases where the woman shouldn’t be punished for something that wasn’t her fault (rape, “real” contraceptive failure, health problems) but you oppose it when she’s in some way at fault (failure to use contraception). If this is correct, I’d say you “fit in” the general category of jerks who don’t think very highly of women, and your political affiliation is irrelevant.

I too don’t understand people who “despise liberals”. I’m a liberal, and I’m human, too, how can you despise another random human being? Do you really think I want to see this country brought to ruin? I want to live here, too, I just happen to disagree with you on some things. But I don’t hate conservatives.
