You still haven’t answered the question. Why do you think abortion is OK in some circumstances, but not others? Your criteria (rape, incest, mother’s health, contraceptive failure) have nothing to do with the viability of the fetus, but they have everything to do with the circumstances of the pregnancy.

Why is it important for a woman to be “honest” about why she got pregnant?

I’m not trying to turn this thread into a discussion about abortion. However, you asked us to tell you where you fit in, and I’m trying to get a sense of how you make decisions. From what you’ve told us, it sounds like you tolerate abortion in cases where the woman shouldn’t be punished for something that wasn’t her fault (rape, “real” contraceptive failure, health problems) but you oppose it when she’s in some way at fault (failure to use contraception). If this is correct, I’d say you “fit in” the general category of jerks who don’t think very highly of women, and your political affiliation is irrelevant.

In other words, you really don’t care about his political affiliation, despite that being what the thread is about? So, even though you have an explanation, you still posted just to insult the guy for having a different value system than yours? Methinks you don’t know what the word “jerk” means*. You cannot be a jerk for what you believe, but only how you act. A jerk is someone who acts in his/her own best interests to the obvious detriment of those around you.

*I am not calling you one. I’m just too lazy to try and figure out another way to say that so that it can’t be misinterpreted as an insult.
