I really only visit one other board, and my attendance there has suffered dramatically since I found the SDMB.
The other board I go to is the Breakup Girl Board. It’s a fun site, geared towards relationship questions, problems, and advice. It helped me through a bad breakup a year ago, and I’ve enjoyed returning the favor.
At the same time, though, catching up on posts there, I’m aware of just how badly the SDMB has spoiled me. Most of the humor is pretty lame or juvenile, the level of ignorance about the most fundamental aspects of being a grown up is astonishing, and the complete lack of perspective shown by some members is harrowing.
Over all, it’s a nice place to kick back, but it just can’t compare to the boards here.
As most people here can probably tell, SDMB is my first message board experience. I love it here in MPSIMS, the people here have a great sense of humour and it’s a good fit for me. I haven’t really wanted to venture to other boards. Between SD, ICQ, and my real life… I don’t have time for another addiction!
I really try to be good but it just isn’t in my nature!

I used to hang out on the LoveLine Advice Forum, but gosh it got depressing fast. So many messed up kids, so little time. People just need to learn to ask themselves WWDDD? (What would Dr. Drew do?)

I occasionally post at A&E’s various boards. Actually, even though I have been reading the SDMB and columns for quite a while, I never posted until recently. It was after posting for a bit at A&E that I felt comfortable and came over here. Needless to say, I hardly go back to the A&E boards.

Lurked at the Car Talk board for a while, but the overall tone put me off. Seemed very cliquish. Maybe it was my frame of mind at the time, but they didn’t seem as open and welcoming of new posters as SD. Maybe I’ll go back and give it another look, though.
I’ve been posting on http://forum.arstechnica.com for many months, and only discovered this one in the last couple months. It’s still a fight to see which one will win. Both are UBB forums.
I also hang around in both forums’ coresponding IRC channels, even though they are on different networks.
ars technica is a PC hardware enthusiast site. So if you ever want to know what the best mid tower case that still provides ample ventalation and cooling for your overclocked dual-celeron chip setup, you know where to go. They also have their own MPSIMS called “The Lounge”.
So which one do I like best?
Well arstechnica lets me edit my post after its up…
…But straightdope has more chicks!
My main posting board is the Bronze, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer posting board. (No snickering allowed at the best show on TV) The Bronzers are adults (the average age for the bronze is 26, the average age of a Buffy viewer, 27). In fact, we party probably more frequently than you folks, with the main party in LA in a month (I’m going there from Tennessee, and we limit the number of people allowed to cme to 300 Bronzers). If you’re curious, the addy is http://board.buffy.com/bronze/postingboard.shtml

I post on Snopes Message Board sometimes. Most of the rest of the time I post on Digitech BBS. It’s an old-fashioned Citadel BBS that you telnet to. Mostly it caters to Linux and BSD -type technikis, but I usually post in the language forum.
